by the way Fred,

Re your Electrolux Model R -- bottom row, 3rd or 4th one over, the white and gray one -- its cover is upside down! In all the illustrations in the instruction booklets for the S (to its left) and R, the cover is shown with the "pointy" end up and the "wider" end down. This has been upsetting me for hours now, ever since I spotted it! So would you please FIX IT! (hahahaha!!!)

Nice Empress I. Why only a 3 year model run for this style? Did GE stop making the motors? Hiked the cost? Eureka could have easily added a power port for their new rotomatic power nozzle, and used the same hose the 1600 series oblong machines used.

Kirbyberibles, another member has a you tube video and says the motor was made by GE, and is upside down mounted, drawing air through the motor armature and brushes before the fans.

Similar Model 1099-A

The Eureka Model 1099-A was apparently the drop-down version of the Empress Model 1100-A.

Differences I noticed from the Empress:

1. No Speed Selector selector

2. No Bag Guard indicator

3. Tool Caddy instead of Tool Case

4. Tools are lagoon blue instead of white

5. Vibra-Beat Nozzle instead of the Vibra-Vac Power Head

Incidentally, it would have originally taken Style M bags. It seems as though these were interchangeable with the later Style B & Style S bags.
