I did check the fan, airways, hose and made sure sole plate was on properly to ensure proper seal to the "slider thing" but it was still the same, tried it without a bag on too, and is still the same, it is just what it is, and yes it is dirty air.

That's gorgeous - is it a 1997 model? does it work well? How come you haven't posted about these before - I would have thought you wouldn't be able to wait to show off a Purepower Autosense on VL?

"I would have thought you wouldn't be able to wait to show off a Purepower Autosense on VL?"

Your dead right!! I can't, I am just waiting till it is all cleaned up and it needs a new chassis as the hole side has completely snapped off, I am not sure if that happened in transit or what, so I need to get it one and then I can video it and do a thread.

All the parts for it are dated 96 and 97 and judging by the rating sticker it seams to be made in 1997 but to the side there are four numbers on there own which says 1998. so not sure, but it is either a 1997 or 1998 model, but definitely a first generation model! :D

read out the complete serial number - its a candy sticker by the sounds of it

Its damaged? no way!  Can you photo the damage?

What chance will you have of finding a chassis in that colour?

whats the serial number - I want to know when it was made - this is a VERY exciting find, as these are so rare now!

I just cant get over you have a Purepower autosense - are you not over the moon about it? They had such a short and limited run before the autosense feature got removed.

I want one of these SO badly - you'd better lock it up safely lol

Did you tell the seller it was damaged? but luckily they still make the Purepower unchanged in that area, so you should get a chassis part from Buyspares.

Did you get me the serial number?

Yh, I was shaking when I was bidding, because I put my bid in, in the last 40 seconds and it said confirm password, I thought I wasn't gong to win it, I am really glad I have it and I am really lucky to own it especially in this condition.
It is very strange having a Purepower with Autosense.

Here is the rating sticker by the way.

Are all the other parts including the brushroll and motor in good condition? Does it have a permabag?

That serial number says it was made in week 21 of 1997 so its a very early model!! What a find!

You should never sell this as it will be VERY collectable in the future.

Could you start a new thread about this vac - it needs one all of its own. Hard to believe that this is 16 years old. One of the very earliest Purepowers, and the one with the bells and whistles too. How much did it cost you all in?

The Undercarriage wheels had also broken which controls the Automatic nozzle raise so that will need replacing which is also cheap, black and readily available.
The bag full light Doesn't work but I am hoping that will be working fine again after all the dust has been cleared out of the pressure switch and tube (fingers crossed).
Everything else is fine, perfect infact. :D It doesn't have a permabag, there was one model from the original line up that had Autosense and permabag, which was blue, but the flag ship model (my one) had Autosense and S-class filtration.

I also thought that it was from the 21st week of 1997 by the Candy dating system, and don't worry, it isn't going anywhere soon, and I will let you know when it does. :)don't hold your breath though! :P haha!

The bag full light may not work because the small tube has enlarged over the years and leaks pressure, where it pushes onto the connections, or it may well be blocked. The hose could have fallen off altogether, or a wire may have come detached.

I always just nip the enlarged ends of the tiny tube off with scissors to make it a tight fit again so no air leaks through.

I also had a look and found the parts a little bit cheaper on eBay "Buyspares" the company is called, it is genuine as well.

I think you are right about getting an old Purepower to take the parts off.

I started a new thread by the way.
