I tried the link to your email and it wouldn't go through either!! I only have one email, so I don't know why it'd be causing problems. check again and try copying it exactly as I typed it....
Anyway, $75 is the magic #. Hopefully we can get a quicker means of communication.

I just snatched one of these up on Craigslist for $25 about a week ago. I bought a used genuine hose off eBay for $30, and a used genuine wand and rug nozzle for $60. I'm also waiting for a $20 bag clip that I ordered thru a janitorial place here in Denver. I've stuffed a genuine bag in there as well. I have an older model M as well that I need to get cleaned up and put back together. I've got a weird knockoff machine as well. I'll post a pic of all 3 once they're all ready.

COOL!!!!Another "pig" or is it "HOG" lover!!!!Now I am up to four in my collection.I have pigs in my kitchen, den, and the other two in a back room where I work on machines. The "Pig" is the BEST bench vac I have used!!!The one pictured looks nice-it looks like it has the older "kidney bean" bag-looks like the bag needs a bag clamp.

It does, it should be here any day now... When I got the machine the whole bag was held closed with those clamps. With the paper bag in it I can use it as it is but I will put the clamp on when it gets here. This one would have used the metal clamp I'm sure but I suspect the new one will be gray plastic. I've loved these machines for a very long time. I was about 5-6 when I first saw one in use while I was following mom around a fabric store and I think another one once in a walmart. Then they used them at my elementary school where my love for these machines really grew. Have you ever seen a Pacific Steamex like the one in this video on YouTube?

I have both the metal and plastic bag clamps. The metal clamps are of course older. The plastic clamps were used until NSS went to a "Universal" black bag with the "orbit" logo on it-has a zipper top.I use it with paper bags.If you use a paper bag in the bag you have-DON'T LET IT GET FULL-or you wont be able to get it out of the cloth bag thru the narrow bag opening-or are you using a Kirby "G" type bag-these can fitand with luck can get it out of the bag opening when full-the old "kidney bags" were intended as dump bags.
I have seen that Pacific Steamex video--Never seen one of those machines-would be neat to have one.Beleive the Pacific Steamex folks got involved in a lawsuit with NSS over that Pacific Steamex machine much like the maker of Bison vacuums vs Kirby.I would have to bet the Steamex machines like the NSS M1 are rare.It is a nice machine-somehow I doubt its the same motor and fan as the NSS-Why would NSS provide parts to a competing company to make a machine like that?Think the person making the video doesn't have that right. The Pacific machine does have some diffences over the NSS-the "snout" is different-as well as the metal outside bag feed tube from the fancase. When I looked up Pacific Steamex-there is NO mention of their vacuum like the NSS M1 mentioned on their website-they make wet carpet extractors and floor washer machines-and wet-dry vacuums, and janitorial equipment.

I first got acquanted with the NSS M1 when I saw them picured in a Daycon Jsnitorial Products catalog in the 70'sDaycon is a janitorial supply in the Wash,DC area.I ordered my first M1 from them-and lived in an apartment-they delivored the machine to me.In the delivory truck besides mine-was a fleet of other M1's asked where they were going-the Daycon guy said to the White House!Cool! mine was with those!Still have that machine and it works fine.Did replace the brushes and bearings. It now has to be about 40 yrs old!I orddred a M1 for the radio startion I was working for at the time-they still have it!

Bag clamp installed! I don't think the plain aluminum shoe rug nozzle does overly well on pet hair. It does ok but nothing special, it gets everything else great tho. Vacuumed my BF's aunt and uncles house a few times so far while I'm here taking care of the dogs. I love this vacuum though. I think I could be content to have a collection that only these vacs.

Believe it or not I was thinking the same thing about the paper bag as I was stuffing it into the small bag opening.

One of my NSS M1 vacs has a "pigtail" connection for a NSS powernozzle.Have the powernozzle and its wand.It does work well with the "Pig"the powernozzle was also meant to be used with a NSS "Designer Dry" canister vacuum.A Circuit City store my way had one of those-when the store closed asked if they had it among the things they were selling out-Wasn't around me and the guys selling out the store couldn't find it anywhere-wanted it for my collection. It had a powernozzle.I think in the real haul uprights-such as Saintaires,Kirbys,Metal Royals and such do better for carpets than the NSS Pigs with the straight suction carpet floor nozzles. When I used the NSS Powernozzle-was a big improvement-I modified my NSS nozzle so I could use it with any other 1.5" hose vacuum.Just plug it into a wall outlet instead of the one on the Pig.The Pigs are sold as two models today-one with the pigtal outlet and the other without it.The pigtal one cost several dollars more.It would seem the NSS straight suction carpet tools are designed for low pile commercial carpet-not the deeper carpet used in homes.I don't have any carpet tools for my M1's just bare floor tools. If you want to use paper bags-order a M1 "Universal" bag and paper bags from an NSS dealer-the Universal bag is $90 and the paper bags are like $36 for a pack of 6 bags.Also--Yellow or White Shop-Vac 6 gal bags will fit-just have to push harder and carefully on the bag collar to get it on the NSS bag horn.Kirby "G" bags will fit, too.Just make sure they are on tight-If too full the bag will be blown off the horn.

I've got a pack of genuine NSS M-1 bags and that's whats in there, it fit perfectly over the metal fill tube. To me the vacuum wouldn't look right with anything but a blue bag. I just won't pack the bag full, which I rarely ever do anyway

The new Black bags do go with the new Black NSS Pigs. No,they wouldn't look right with the Yellow Pigs-but would be easier to use-Just keep the orig blue bag for display.Your vacuum sure looks nice!!2 of my Pigs are the black ones.Do like the yellow color and "Horse" logo bags better for appearence.

It was a filthy mess when I first got it. The bag was filthy and there was so much crap in the scrap trap on the front, so e of it looked rather nasty and it looked like it had been used to vacuum a garage out that was filled with leaves and other plant litter. I took the bag off and dumped it out followed by turning it inside out and a good blowing out with my Metro Masterblaster blower that was a great find, another store was going to scrap it but it works fine. It's the model with 2 Lamb motors in series inside. Extremely powerful!!! I made a MASSIVE cloud of dust outside when I did it and there was white dust everywhere and lots of fuzz and lint too lol.

I moved their couch (the black leather one behind the vac in the last pic, and vacuumed under it. This pretty much removed any doubts i have about the nozzle's cleaning ability, it cleaned everything up very well and quickly. I was looking through the NSS attachment catalog and saw that the rug nozzle I have is listed as being good for low pile commercial carpet. Another collector is sending me another nozzle that might work better for household pile carpet but I'm not unhappy with the way it cleans. If you put the hose up to your ear while vacuuming you can hear it picking up a ton of sand and grit.

Figures with used Pig vacs the poor thing would be full of stuff.A few times used mine while helping a freind remodel his house-The mess was so bad I went thru a few packs of paper bags and one cloth bag-ate up the fill tube-the Pig ate nails, cable staples, and even conduit box slugs-bent them over-same with the nails before putting them into the bag-the Pig's fan didn't have a dent or any nicks in the blades. For remodel jobs the Pig is better than any Shop type vac.Just used the shop vac for the wet stuff.
Glad your carpet tools are working-Maybe I will have to order some and try them-My carpet is very deep. The powernozzle works good on it.And--for extra fun paired the NSS Pig with my Kirby Sentria.Take the bag off the Kirby-put the Kirby hose on the fan discharge--and use the Kirby as a powernozzle-really gets the stuff out-best tamdem air vac around!!You hear the air rushing thru the Kirby and NSS hoses-and the stuff going thru the fans!!With your machine guess it got stuff your other vacs missed-or your friends vac missed behind that sofa.Would love to see pictures of your other Pig vacs-esp the "weird" one.NSS has strict patents on their design-they go after anyone that tries to copy it.NSS sure came up with a real long term winner in their Pig.Now I would like to run into some of the older machines and that Steamex one.

Im hoping this weekend I'll get around to putting my M back together but we'll see. I need to track down a wand for the M as I have a rug tool coming from a friend. I'd like to find another genuine hose too but in the meantime I can just keep using the generic gray crush proof one it came to me with. Here is a video in the meantime. This was taken when my late best friend (God rest his soul) came to visit and brought the M to me.

Nice little video-like that OLD Pig-it doesn't have the brushcap guards on the back motor cover-its an oldie-along with its faded but still good Horse bag.The Steamex put on a good show!-Loved how both bags were poofed out on each machine. So sad about your freind.Very sorry for your loss.

Guess I will need to order a carpet tool from NSS and try it!Maybe the combination of the Pig and the tool has something going for it-NSS does point out the advantage of their carpet tool-no roller brush or beater bars to entangle phone, computer, and power cords found around desks in offices. And using that tool will give you a WORKOUT!!!Do you push down on the back of the wand handle while going forward and lift up while pulling back-this allows air to flow into the tool-thus dirt-so the tool won't "stick" to the floor and be hard to push-pull.The NSS manuals and website mention that.Sadly I think the Pig is getting competition from backpacks-have both--but love and reach for the Pig everytime-easier to use without the machine on your back. The Pig rests on the floor!-and rolls so easily despite its size and weight-rolls better than most other canister vacs I have. And it can roll over its cord, door thresholds and such without help.

I don't lift of push down on the wand, I just push forward and pull back. It really isn't hard to push at all, it's no self propelled upright but I don't find it tiring to use at all. I honestly think backpacks get annoying carrying the weight and then the bulk hanging off your back bugs me too.

The annoyance of backpacks is why I don't use mine--In fact I use the Pig to vacuum off the dust they gather on their outsides!Another thing bad about backpacks--Remember the "drag along vacuum tragdeties add?"For backpacks it could be "Bump into" tragedies"The backpacks do work good-they can be just plain awkward.NSS even makes a series of backpack machines.Aircraft,Bus,Train passenger car cleaners like them.
