Found this on Facebook Marketplace for a great deal and the seller was very gracious enough to ship it to me. I'm more into the typical European canister offerings but I love these old full size Riccar/Simplicity canisters. Its a shame Tacony got rid of them and an even bigger shame they tried to replace them with the IMO comparatively terrible Prima/Wonder. Very excited to have this! I had an older Simplicity S38 that I enjoyed but this is a much smoother and quieter machine. I love the raw suction power and excellent agitation these have.

Score ! I have a Riccar 1700, which is really really close to this model but a bit older and made in Korea. Super solid vacuum. The power nozzle is a wee bit crude sounding and feeling but it cleans as well as any power nozzle made. I like the hoses, wand and attachments on these. So much nicer to use than our two Mieles. It is one of those vacuums that doesn't make you bust a sweat or work around weird quirks to clean your home well. Stick with genuine Riccar synthetic dust bags. The Envirocare bags leave a round circle of dust on the bottom of the bag chamber right under the hose entrance.

My Simplicity S38 was one of the order Korean built Daewoo units. They supposedly revamped the powerheads on these newer U.S built units to make them quieter and smoother which is definitely the case on this Riccar. But to me that's really the primary let down with these is the powerhead. The canister itself I think is about as good as the German stuff in terms of quality, and the OEM nozzle cleans very well but after owning Sebo and Lindhaus nozzles the Tacony ones to me just fall short. I wish there was a way to use my Lindhaus PB14e on the end of this machine, now that would be a killer combo!

I love the Mieles from this era and think the 2000s/2010s was their peak but if I was a consumer at the time I'd have a hard time picking one one over these Riccars. I like the hose on these more than the Mieles, mainly because the Miele hoses are shorter and I much prefer the longer Sebo, Lindhaus, Riccar, etc hoses

I have a box of OEM Type H bags leftover from my Simplicity and have several Tacony dealers nearby that can get me more if I ever need. Thank you for the advice!
