One day I was scrolling through Facebook marketplace, and I had happen to come across a listing for a new old stock Hoover Steamvac. This machine was listed for $50! When I saw how cheap it was, I just had to buy it. The seller was not only cooperative, but he was nice enough to leave it at his front door.
I believe this particular model was sold exclusively on HSN. I was only able to find an old HSN video showing this machine in action. The video was published back in 2007, and no other information exists about this machine online; therefore, making this a rare model. The manual says 2004, so maybe this was sold on HSN back in 2004? Either way, it’s neat to have this particular Steamvac since I remember watching the same video years ago.
This machine reminded me of my parents Steamvac from 2006. It not only lasted for a long time, but it was definitely better built than the newer Chinese models. I used to own two Steamvac’s that were made in China, and the clips that hold the hose randomly broke. I didn’t really need to buy this since my Rug Doctor proved to be a fantastic machine, but I mainly brought this since I felt nostalgic.
I will say that these do a great job cleaning carpets. As long as you use the right solution, it will get the stains out. I decided to use the solution that came with the machine to see if it would still be good or not, and surprisingly it was still able to clean my carpets.
It came with an extra bolt, which will come in handy since one of my direct air Hoover’s came without a bolt for whatever reason.
I’m not sure if I installed the bare floor tool incorrectly, but it doesn’t really do a good job on hard floors. I find that the machine works best without it, so I guess it’s pretty much useless.
The hose works pretty good, but I still wish I found the higher end widepath model with the automatic tool conversion. The only downfall with the higher end version of the Steamvac was that the hose was known for splitting.
I’m very happy to own a NOS Hoover Steamvac. I’ll definitely be keeping this machine for a long time since this certain model is very hard to come by.
