Hi guys, just picked up this unusual BVC, never seen another like it before. It's had a hard life and is a bit tatty, the motor was seized and the switch knackered, however i've rectified this and it runs quite well now. Does anyone remember seeing any of these back in the day?

Unusually, it still has its original tools. I have a brochure scan of another BVC vacuum from 1983 with identical tools.

It needs a good clean!

Glad I powered it up with a circuit breaker, this is the modification one of the previous owners had made to bypass the faulty switch. Dodgy as hell!

Oh wow!

That's one dangerous looking "rigging" job to bypass that switch. Please tell me they at least attempted to insulate those bare wire connections rather than just sticking that back inside that case the way it was????

BVC

Never saw this.I happened to watch the original S King 'Shining' movie(about 1980)last week and one of the early scenes when closing the hotel for winter shows a large flat top comm vac.Could this be an overgrown US cousin?--Thanks for showing this and others.

it's quite possible, BVC made a huge range of commercial and industrial cleaners around that time. The most famous film appearance for BVC would probably be the hotel scene in the Return of the Pink Panther movie. I've included a link below :)

The most common style of BVC seems to be the large industrial ones with the hose on top, theres lots of them left
