Hello all,

I stumbled upon your site this evening seeking information about my Eureka canister vac. It's a model 3210AG, made in 1980-81. It is a pretty basic model but I have the box and all attachments - it was a one-owner little old lady deal :)

One of the bearings went out in the motor a few months ago. Yesterday, I looked at the selection of vacuums currently on sale at a popular discount store, which prompted me to visit Grainger Supply this morning and shell out $65 for a new motor! I had to tap the mounting holes myself - something I didn't expect. Now she's working like new again and I couldn't be happier.

I also have a Kenmore upright from around 1981 that belonged to my Grandmother. It needs a good cleaning and a new belt. I saved it for sentimental reasons of course.

If anybody has one, I would be interested in acquiring the vacuum I grew up with. It was a blue 70's Kenmore Powermate canister with the Magicord. It had a white power pedal and the attachments mounted on the front half of the top, and a power brush with (I think) a red nap size pedal. Heck, I'd love to just see pictures of one again and/or find out the model number.

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on giving your Eureka a new lease on life, and at a price that's hard to beat when you look at new machines of the same quality. You're in good company when it comes to sentimentality. I think most here would agree that vacuums we remember from our youth, or having the ones owned by special people in our lives is a big factor in our collecting habits. It's part of keeping memories alive, and in our own little way preserving a piece of history. I remember those blue Kenmores you speak of back when they were the current offering at Sears. I've seen them since several times in second-hand stores or at garage sales, although I can't recall seeing any in the last few years. If you hang out here long enough though, you'll probably find someone who has a bead on one.

Gary, that's close - probably a couple of years newer than ours. We didn't have the woodgrain trim. I happened upon a model 2888 on Youtube and it's a dead wringer for our old one:

And yes, I am happy to revive the Eureka. I'll have to snap some pictures.
