New vacs

I donated a eureka optima to my boy scout troop, and I return I got a hoover brush vac, not sure if it runs because one of the latches are broken on the dust cup, which needs tape for the two parts to staw together. The gem of the two is a vintage hoover model 28. Can someone tell me how old this is? It has stamps on the bottom dating back to the 1950's. It has a crack on the side of the motor head, but I fixed is with black tape, it is not an internal crack, the headlight lens has a couple chips in is, and the height adjustment dial is gone to my knowledge, it does work fine, but needs to be cleaned. Im thinking 1940's? Let me know how old it is, and I'm guessing it was in a vac shop quite a few times, as there are about 4-5 legible dates on the bottom of it. Thanks!!!!!

Hoover model 28

It was made between 1946 and 1950 with well over two million units made. It's cool to see the service date stamps on the bottom of old Hoovers! It shows yours was cared for! There ought to be a height adjustment lever on the bottom near where the rear wheels are situated. You press down on the rear of the cleaner, and swing that little arm under the wheels to raise the nozzle for thicker carpeting. The 28 is a great machine!
