New Sebo Felix

Alright, thanks to my friend Joshua, I am now the owner of a brand new Sebo Felix Premium 1.

Straight out of the box it was pulling a 6.5/10 on the baird meter.

It's a very nice vacuum the variable speed is wonderful when you have "stupid carpet" like we do and leather furniture.

Yes chap ! The best all round vacuum you can buy in terms of just about everything. Lovely machines, I have a Felix vague with eh 700watt motor and the suction is no different to these models

I'm the Kirby guy but I would easily say the Sebo Felix is a much better all rounder than any Dyson due mainly to the adjustable height and motor speed.

What's wrong with having arguments? They make things interesting and we may learn something in the process. BTW I have read many many reviews of the felix but one of the best is Roger's (Sensotronic) video of the Felix. It is easy to see that it is fantastic as an all-rounder.

arguments are not very nice to have if you wanna start arguments that's fine but don't make it about the same thing and do it at your own risk,and it might be a fantastic all rounder but it might not be the best for other people it's all down to personal preference Dyson and sebo are both very good brands but both have their advantages and disadvantages so is down to personal preference.something that might look good but when you get in your own hands you might not like it so we is best not to comment on something like you don't have.

On that 6.5 on the Baird Meter, was that with the synthetic bags and not the really old paper bags for the Felix?

Glad you're happy with your Felix. I agree, they're great all rounders, doing a good job for mostly all vacuuming and definitely one of the most versatile machines you can get. They're nice and light too.

Good choice of vacuum cleaner. I would agree, it is one of the best all rounders and I really like them. I don't like the X series but love the Felix. The Felix is flexible, the handle adjustment up and down, variable motor speed, brush on/off system and the ability to vacuum flat when vacuuming under the bed. When I lived in a house, I used to put the top cylinder part in my car and vacuum it out easily and not leave it outside of the car - not that leaving the machine out of the car is an issue.

Oh whoops. Best remove the Felix from the contemporary image icon as it isn't the best all-rounder apparently.

Never thought I would say this but I do agree with sptyks, I would take the felix over a dyson. The newer dyson are great, I have 2 but as an everyday all rounder, for something that is well made, great performance, versatile, quiet and really good value for money, you cant really beat the felix.

It isn't perfect. It topples over from the neck unlocking itself and the hose is short, but other than that, it is a great cleaner. Love mine.

Why did you plant the bomb about sounding like Kirby collectors? I think that's exactly what you were trying to do.

The OP said it was a best all rounder, people are entitled to their opinions and pride in their new machines. The felix looks like a fine machine.

Congrats on your new Felix!!

I have a Felix myself, it was a Christmas present from Robert a few years ago. I got the red one. I know that there are some pretty varied opinions on the Felix, I personally think it's a good machine, but I am disappointed with its build quaity. It's also a bit on the pricey side - but when compared to a Dyson, I feel it's probably comparable (for the price). The handle is wobbly, and it just feels cheaply made. I think it is an excellent cleaner, and I do use it often - but I wish that it had the build quality/fit and finish of a Miele. That's what I was expecting when I opened the box, and it was clear from that point on that it was not on par with Miele.

The machine also gave off a "new motor smell" for a really long time, which I didn't particularly care for, so I finally put an air freshener tablet in the bag, which helped. It does run really hot, too, which I have noticed. I do love how light weight it is, and how quiet it is. The power nozzle really does a good job grooming the carpets. I also like the bare floor tool that came with it - although I took the front brush strip out, and it seems to now draw the dirt in, instead of getting stuck to the bristles. The attachments are nothing spectacular, I don't store them on the cleaner - I didn't attach the little holder thingy.

Well the felix has been out for 10 years now and people are still buying them so they cant b that bad.

I actually find Miele's build quality to be lower than SEBO. SEBO's have a tough and durable feel about them. I found my S7 to have some quite cheap plastic used that would snap and break and they are incredibly complicated to do work on. Quite a few vacuum specialist don't stock or do repair work on Mieles anymore because of that and also parts for them are expensive.

You talk about the price as well. I think in so many ways, we have arguments because things tend not to be the same in either side of the pond. In the UK at least, the felix starts from £215, a comparable dyson starts at £300.

But again, opinions and everyone is entitled to them, but the brush the felix off as a bad vacuum is hard to comprehend.

I enjoyed mine while I had it.

The brushroll was a little too aggressive for some of my older rugs and I had four dogs at the time, so I went through bags pretty quickly.

Love your Felix Blackheart, they are great vacuums. Hope you enjoy using it.

I've had my Felix Classic 8 years this August and it's been used a bit over the years and have had no issues with it love it. One of the best vacuums I've used/owned apart from my new purchase (Vorwerk Kobold VK150). I've yet to change both filters on it although the pre motor filter does want changing now. They do run hot but I don't tend to use mine on full power all the time only for tougher jobs. It's the vacuum cleaner that got me back into bagged vacuums. Glad it did!

The new 700 watt Felix vacuums in the UK/EU do not run hot like the original 1300 watts versions. I tried one in John Lewis dept store and was very impressed with the performance of the new 700 watt version. Same power if not slightly more power, well that how it felt.

That sounds like a really good tip. Do you happen to have a picture of your floor brush modification? I have a similar problem with some of my bare floor brushes. May have to try something like that.

@madaboutsebo - The motor on the Felix ECO has 24 blades versus 6 on the 1300 watt model !

@luxlife - I don't know about the states but in Europe you can buy a softer bristled brushroll for the felix for that exact reason. I has green bristles and is a good option for more delicate surfaces.

Thanks oliveoiltinfoil I forgot about that about the new Eco 700 watt motor. The SEBO demonstrator in John Lewis Southampton told me about the new motor when I test one out. Thanks again for that information on the new motor. You can tell the new motor has great airflow I was impressed.

No problem my friend. According to the technical specs on both models, the airflow rate is exactly the same at 50 litres per second.

Thanks . That's interesting to know. Hence the more fan blades on the 700 watt motor to give the same performance for using less power and less heat generated too.

Hence the probable solution derived from the E1 series cylinder vacs. They're more about airflow noise than anything else IMHO. The K1 700 relies on the older motor and has a certain whine to it.

Lovely Felix though! Just one question though if I may, Blackheart - does this have the height adjustable pull flap at the front? I know some U.S models are different where a height adjustment on the handle isn't an option.

I agree with Oli regarding SEBO build. They are far more durable and better built than Miele. That's not to say I dislike Miele but its a constant expense with Miele versus SEBO on running costs.

Yes it does, it's sooo much nicer having that for using it in it's "portable mode".

The last Felix i had was a used model which did not have the telescopic handle or the speed control. They were basic models used to test the market. All Current felixs now have both, except the windsor commercial versions.

Having both a Miele S7 and now a Felix i do prefer the Felix it's a lot lighter and more nimble than the Miele, plus it has a lot more airflow (6.5 vs 3.5) there are certain things i like better about the miele, like the longer cord, bottom mounted hose, headlight, and the ability to shut off the brush from the handle. Overall though i do prefer the felix.

As someone who has also had both an S7 and Felix, which do you think has better performance?

I personally think the felix, not only because it does have noticeably more airflow, but I think it has better agitation. I found the S7 to bunny hop as I think its called over my plush pilled carpets, not digging in enough.

The felix is a more simple design, more simple airflow path, just better built and more simple.
