Well that's the most elegant Vacuum design i've seen in a very long time.

Miele, who else? :P

Wow, a Miele upright!!

And a proper one, not a rebadged Panasonic! Is this a UK machine, Mike? If so, I may have to put one on my shopping list :)

Can't wait to see more pictures!

Wow.....

Hey Mike

Not been told bout these, but then our rep isnt the most forthcoming.......

Its defiantly not a Panasonic lol...

Might have to invest!

Seamus

Mike, I saw these at the VDTA show this past February. They had them enclosed in glass, so I couldn't touch them, but they looked amazing. Miele has been working on these for EIGHT YEARS. Every year at VDTA it was "When's the upright coming out? When's the upright coming out?" Miele has put a tremendous amount of R&D into these, so I expect them to be superb.

Our American versions will have the 1200 watt suction motor just like the canisters do. I couldn't get a glimpse of the brushroll. They swivel like a Felix, but since the motor is still in the base of the machine, there should be less handle weight. They told us these will be introduced in fourth quarter this year.

I can't wait.

Ooooo something cool and new and fun to look forward to! I smell a possible new toy, haven't had one in a while!

Uprights

Hey Ian, does look very stylish, I`m hoping for a gloss black colour with blue ray halogen lights!!

Hello Pat, great to hear from you, certainly will do the pics n testing!!!, looks like one to look out for!!! any more finds since we last met???

Jack, it is a UK machine, and according to R&D one identified, built & designed for our market...dont get one before checking with me or Seamus for a best price!!!

Hi Seamus, defo not a panasonic, looks a cross between a Riccar and a 70`s Hotpoint Swallow, me thinks...

Hi Andy, hows the shop re-fit going, ours are due Summer, so watch this space, 1200watts, I sincerely hope ours are NOT the same size motor/suction as our cylinders at 2200w, otherwise we will be sucking up MIDDLE EARTH...LOL

Hey Scott, sorry I missed you call last night, just got your email, will catch up later, yes put your order in with Andy now!!! Scott came for a vist in 2002 after we all met at the 2001 washer convention, he was so smitten with the S571 Miele Cylinder he went straight back and bought one!!!

Cheers, Mike

Sorta a Darth Vader vibe eh? my Heritage 2 has that colour scheme, works to great effect I think lol.

Heh, the Hotpoint Swallow..I wouldn't mind one, pity they're like rocking horse excretia.

(These were dirty fan I presume, Mike? I'd best start another thread for obscure vacs lost in the mists of time. ;p)

Hi Mike, I have an S512 and an S143 and if the quality of this new cleaner is as good as the above I could be very tempted to treat myself.

Might I ask where you saw and ordered yours from as I would like to see one........I don't need another 'daily driver' but what did that ever have to do with it !!!

Hello Ian, I have a @ 1975 brochure featuring amongst other cleaners, the 'Hotpoint Swallow'...when I buy myself a digital camera I will try and 'post it in'.

Mum had a Swallow and although the design/build quality left a little to be desired I seem to remember it was a good performer ?

Regards, Walter.

Cheers, Walter. :)

I love all the "cheap" (much better than what we have nowerdays though) Vacuums that were mostly seen in UK catalogues, mostly in the 1970s/80s..

I've got a few 70s Goblins myself, nowt as "exotic" as the Housemaid mind lol.

Ian

Ah yes Mike, will look forward to catching up soon! Hope to get back over the pond sometime this year! Been too long. Do you have the same cylinder as before, or have you upgraded?

2200 watts? Bloody h*ll with that I could vacuum my own carpets and the downstairs neighbor's in one pass! Good thing the one with little girls doesn't live down there anymore, or I'd have to remove them from the bag each use! LOL Actually, yours always were greater wattage than ours, must have to do with your higher voltage. Your cylinder was 1600, ours are 11, now 12.

I'm right smitten at the moment with my friend Logan's new turquoise cylinder as well, ye of the 236 power nozzle and automatic suction adjustment. May be an upgrade year all 'round I say!

I am happy that Miele has decided to come with its own range of uprights. Panasonic is a respectable cleaner, but redbadging them as Mieles always just seemed odd to me. I'd considered over time some of the others such as Sebo, to play with, but now I'll await the Mieles. I'm generally a two separate machines person, but I wonder if the uprights will have hose and tool capability.

Excitement overload!

OMG!

Can’t think of anything that’s remotely coherent!

Dare I say I can feel another vacuum cleaner coming on at some stage in the near future...?! ;)

Got to pay for these glasses first, though! LOL :)

Need more info – must suck it up! LOL :)

Seamus, I shall be having words with you very soon, so get ready for lots of questioning! And you, Mike! Sorry I've not been in touch lately, Mike.

Ian, I shall discuss this all with you soon! :)
