Hi,
I just bought a new Kenmore canister. My old one needed a new power head, and I accidentally ran it without a bag, not good for the motor.......

The new one is white, model 21514. I wanted the the one with the crossover carpet bare floor head, but I read about it at Epinions, and thought I better not. It got terrible reviews from consumers.

I used the vac to undecorate my house from the holidays, a big mess. It did very well. It seems to have much more suction than my 13 year old model. The cord is longer too.Is seems to be much quieter too.

So far the only thing I am not crazy about is the way the small tools store. They are on the wand instead of inside the canister. There is no regular upholstery tool either, just the small power head, which is so powerful, i had to set the suction down lower. It actually stuck to my carpeted stairs.

I know these are not built to last forever like a Filter Queen or Rainbow, but I like a bag that I can throw out. No muss, no fuss is for me!

Thanks for the review. I think you picked a good vacuum. Although I agree, I like the tools being on the canister instead of the hose handle, as they are on the lower end TTI orange/white and blue/white models. Your machine is made by Panisonic and should be better quality though. I like the look of the blue Crossover, but I believe it's the TOL model and is like $600!

If you go to Sears you can get the older style attachments (dusting brush, upholstery brush, crevice tool, and floor nozzle) that fit each of these canisters if you like those better.

new Kenmore

Thanks for the info. I will see if the tools from my dead one will fit on the new one before I junk it.If not I will go to Sears.

I have had Panasonics in the past, uprights, and they did a good job and held up quite well. These were from the 80's.

What kind is your dead one? I have two '99 Kenmore Whispertone canisters in green. They have held up pretty well, just got done restoring and cleaning the exhaust filter on one this last weekend. I still need to repair the PN on it though.

Chan55, if you're going to be throwing the old one away, would you be interested in selling me some parts from it? You can email me if you'd like. My email address is in my profile. Thanks.

New Kenmore

Hi,
I was getting ready to check and see what model my dead Kenmore was, when I thought I will give it one last shot.

Get this. I thought I had wrecked the motor from running it without a bag for a minute or two, but instead the hose was plugged! I cleaned it out and it runs just fine. The power head is still not working, broken houseing, but I can still use the canister.

SO, I will be hanging on to my undead Kenmore, after all.

Looking at the 21614 Model, really like the mini petmate for the furniture and stairs. Do not really care for the nested tools on the hose but will live with them. Waiting for Hoover to get their act together and make a "Good" Canister with a Wind Tunnel Power Nozzle( I have a S3670), "Real" Attachments like they used to have, and electric mini power nozzle, like the petmate; also want a 35 foot cord. Did you buy the extended waranty? Is it a worth while investment?
