The fairest way, is to list them all on 7 day auctions, with a start price at the prices required for the items, then everyone can decide whether or not they want to pay this price, or bid more for it. I agree that an auction should be allowed to run its full course and not be ended early due to buyers contacting a seller to end early, as this is unfair to all interested parties.

Money talks. Those who want the item the most, bid the most. That's the beauty of Ebay, it gets the best prices for an item, where many people are interested in them.

Just because somebody has more money, doesn't mean they want it or deserve it more than somebody else.

Remember the days when we were all friends and we'd actually discuss who was going for what and step back for eachother at times? Sigh. Happy memories.

Well, unfortunately, since all this blocking each other malarkey came out, and sebo_fan immediately blocked me, there's not much good feeling left any more.

most days theres hardly anyone posting here from the UK any more. VL in the UK is dying. The blocking facility hasn't helped this.

You know how much they will go up to, far more than a buy it now, if your are prepar3d to pay hundreds of pounds for these new old cleaner then on your head be it.

But Alex - if you want these new Turbopowers, then you will pay hundreds for them - That will determine just how badly you really want them.

hat will determine just how badly you really want them.

That's my point, it won't.

It just determines that whoever pays the most has more money and having more money doesn't automatically make you a more deserving or more wanting collector.

I think this thread needs to be closed/locked as it is never going to get back onto the original topic.

You have to think about this. The seller has seen how everyone started clambering for these cleaners earlier in this thread, so he knows these cleaners will be in great demand - do you really think he will list them for peanuts on a buy it now format?

By choosing to go on facebook and shutting out those you don't like, using the new blocking facility on VL, leaving VL dead of UK members most nights, this doesn't really help with member co-operation does it Chris? The blocking facility has not helped at all. Whats the point in posting here now if you think no-one reads the posts you make?

"Member co-operation". Notice your use of the word "member" and not "friend". The Facebook groups have a much friendly atmosphere and encourage friend making outside of the online forums. Not that VL is unfriendly in the slightest, just that by the nature of Facebook being what it is, that happens.

It's a bit more like what Hooverland UK used to be like before it died.

Michael, Ryan is on my Facebook and is a member in at least 1 group.

Regarding the buying, if people are willing to make good offers on here that the seller finds acceptable, it will save a heck of a lot of time and effort, not to mention eBay fee's, than selling by suction. I think it would be in Lucy's best interests to sell what she can for what she deems a reasonable amount on here and then stick what doesn't go on eBay. At least she would also have the reassurance that these cleaners will be well looked after too.

It was a Yahoo! group. Vacuumland took over really. Yahoo groups became kind of slow and decrepid compared to the forums, and the Facebook groups weren't far behind either. People just started using other, better social network sites. And of course, Skype became a thing. I think the final nail in the coffin was the 2007 Hooverland meet, which I believe was the first major meetup, people just became friends and kept in more regular contact, which rendered the group a bit useless.

Did sebo_fan set up this group?

And there's one more reason to why you are blocked from me on here.

Anyway back on topic. If I was really going to buy anything it would be the Hoover Telios cylinder vacs - the T5702 is a 1700 watt model and has variable suction control dial and is in Hoover's distinctive red colour. Great little power house vacuums and offers 4 litre dust bag capacity. Mirrors the old Miele cylinder vacs on the tool design/main body design.

The T5603 is a 1600 watt model, and in blue. To those who haven't seen a Telios before - here's the T5805 model, 1800 watt in blue. They're a good alternative to a lot of bagged cylinders on the market at the moment that would otherwise rival the short corded Zanussi/Electrolux Powerplus cylinder vacs.

However! Hoover's Telios models past 2005 took a dive when Hoover changed the handle on the models due to complaints of the trigger release catching the back of the hand - and added a standard "top air outlet" slider. The hose mounts were also weaker to the body -

So, the models that this seller has, should have the better ones with the trigger underneath as the hose mount to the main body actually stays put!
