I think they look like good cleaners, though I don't think they are really worth the price.

One problem.

One thing that I was hoping that Dyson would change the batteries to give more battery length than just 20 minutes. I'm currently looking at a Bosch Athlet which offers up to 60 minutes of time, three times the length of the Dyson.


 


Another thing that's put my 91 year old great-gran of getting one is the fact that you have to keep your finger on the button, which is useless as she has hand problems. It's also top heavy unlike some cordless vacuums which are actual upright vacuum style.

Dyson have just invested millions into a company called Sakti3 to develop a much improved battery. So watch this space

I'm not sure about it being top heavy, I think it's very well balanced.

That may be true for you Mark, but for a 91 year old with partial Arthritis it's a different story. Even though the Bosch is 0.7kg heavier than the Dyson, the top heaviness has put my gran off it.

The Vax Air Cordless is one of the easiest vacuums to push in my experience and it stands up on its own. I do find my Dyson DC35 quite tiring to use, but with the short run time it's not used for long. I also find holding down the button inconvenient. I would have thought Dyson would have developed a touch sensitive handle that turns the machine on when you are holding it.

I think they have a trigger release to maximise the battery time. I suppose they could have a trigger lock mechanism.

I have been a bit disappointed with the DC35, especially the carpet cleaning performance which is only acceptable on Max mode. I would love to see a mains powered digital slim, but hopefully with new battery technology, the performance and run time will improve.

I'm not the biggest fan of cordless vacs. They are useful for cleaning in between a mains cleaner but they haven't reached the same performance yet.
But they may do in the future, who knows.

The V6 Absolute is supposed to be a big improvement over the DC59 it has a brushroll motor which is supposed to dig into the pile deeper, but I haven't tried it yet. It's WAY too expensive though!

The DC35 was only advertised really for quick clean ups. Depending on who you ask, the dc59 is also for quick going overs. The difference between the dc35 and dc59 is quite great, in terms of performance on carpets especially, as it has a completely redesigned head and brushbar.

What I find so great about the dc59 is its mini motorised tool which is perfect for doing the stairs and probably does a better job than my sebo with the turbo brush.

I wouldn't mind trying out the new V6 absolute, the one with the dc50 like cleaning head, as that is supposed to be as good and better than some corded vacuums.

The DC59 trigger requires less energy to press, so its better for people with arthritis. Also nobody would be holding the trigger for the whole 25 mins, it turns off when your picking up something off the floor, moving furniture, or something like that
Also, the DC35 was Dyson's first stick vac, not bad for their first but the DC59 is a much more improved machine

I would love a DC59, not sure about the new motorhead though, I like the look of the DC59 head better. it has a lower profile and a tube for suction which means its less likely to get clogged/

Top Heavy

There is no disputing that the Dyson cleaners are top-heavy when compared to the upright style, as the motor is physically at top of the pole, not the bottom. So, no "maybe" about that one.

Whether or not it is problematic is another story. Only the user can decide. Same with the on/off switch. Some may not find it a problem. Personally I find the cleaner very difficult to hold, more so keeping my finger on the switch at the same time. But of course I am not everyone and I would never dream of telling someone they were wrong to experience the feelings they do towards an object they have used.

Well that's the interesting thing - I am never sure if someones preferences actually constitute an opinion or not, or rather it is just a preference.
