Hoses

Gary,

The only way to get them is to buy off EBAY or have someone buy and ship them to you. The long Powerprof hose in pic one has a mechanical switch that you use on the braided hose handle in place of the push button design with the 220v printed circuit board. france-purification.com has some great videos on taking these units apart and the components that you need.

Aerus LLC makes its own hoses, power nozzles, wands, and attachments. Of course they want to sell their own.

There is no reason why they should feel the need to import this from Lux International. All they would have to do is modernize and build upon their Classic and Legacy models and they would have top of the line machines.

Yes it appears…

The upright lime has been changed. The heavy duty model seems to have a rather high head meaning it less under furniture friendly…they seem to be aiming it at commercial users.

The Lux lite seems to now be focused towards residential users. It would be better for them to redesign the Lux lite with an Lshaped head and also some sort of easy to use attachments. It has the squeegee feature so it won’t throw back dirt when using on hard floors but there is no way to clean anything else but floors with this vacuum. It’s clearly aimed at the Oreck market. If they are going to keep this thing, they need to offer a hand held wearable vac with shoulder strap that can be used foe above floor cleaning similar to so,etching like a shark hand held which has a flex hose and attachments and a mini power nozzle which goes on the main unit and all attachments can be used either on the hose or the main unit. Offer some optional 1 1/4 wands and the combination Classic rug and floor tool with it too. I actually did this with my Shark hand held…I bought an adapter to use 1 1/4 wands with it, added two wands and an Aerus/Electrolux combination rug and floor tool and voila! I have myself a very nice little vac for everything imaginable except heavy duty carpet.

2021 Lux S115 Jubilee Edition

Lux International's 120th Jubilee edition is the reason the Aerus Guardian Platinum underwent a cosmetic update circa 2021. I'm still surprised that Aerus did nothing to mark its 100th last year—not even a decal. In fact, AB Electrolux produced a 100th anniversary book for its 2019 centennial, but seemingly had no jubilee edition cleaner of its own, either.

As to Aerus making its own cleaners, I have a feeling they only outsource except maybe for the accessories as mentioned. I called several years ago and asked for some technical information and was told they had no techs who could answer (I was not put on hold for them to ask anyone or asked to call again another time), and the office personnel had no idea.

Can anyone confirm or deny a motor upgrade for the white LGP or S115?

Btw, what, if anything, does Lux outsource?

Sadly, I agree. It seems surface care appliances have become Aerus's sideline compared to its mainline purification, oxidizers and heating products. I'm even uncertain that it actually manufactures anything on its own; being more of an assembler, packer and distributor along with service and repair. The last time I checked, its website was unclear of this and showed no photos of actual manufacturing.

As much as I hate seeing Aerus go, I'm definitely grateful we have copycats on the market today that'd continue the legacy like the ProTeam ProForce which I think are the best Lux vacuums ever made. Or what I really like are companies that makes machines based off of Lux like the SEBO K3 but with many improvements.

Good point about the copycats.

I just got to thinking that Lux's 125th is coming up next year. Maybe this time around they'll do something more substantial like a new model. One can hope anyway.

I don't know that Aerus is any more checked out than usual about their floor care products. They haven't released an all-new machine designed in-house since the Renaissance in the mid-90s, back when they were Electrolux USA. The Guardian Ultra was just a dolled up Legacy/Classic, and the Guardian Platinum is a lightly modified Lux International. My point is just that Aerus isn't behaving any differently than they have in a long time. The Legacy and Classic are overdue for a color change, but I don't think that's a bad sign. If carpets were still fashionable and people weren't getting by with Swiffers and robot vacuums, we'd probably have new colors for those machines by now. I'd love to see HEPA added to the older machines, new colors, new wands, etc., but I'm just thankful they continue to sell what they sell at this point.

All I needed to pull the trigger on a new machine was a 100th Anniversary sticker, but Aerus dropped the ball on that. Any sort of update would prompt me to buy a new one, but I can't see paying for a 2025 Legacy that's identical to my 2014 Legacy. I'd love a new basement vacuum, but I'd rather move my 2014 down there and buy an updated product for upstairs--if Aerus ever updates the Legacy/Classic. The Guardian Platinum looks great, especially in white, but I'd rather support the workers in Virginia who assemble the Legacy and Classic than support Lux International.

I'm not worried about it...

While it's sad to see another proud American brand fall by the wayside, I can't say I'm all that worried about the loss of Aerus, should it happen. The company has been drifting into irrelevancy ever since it stopped using the Electrolux name. I have more than enough vintage Electrolux machines—canisters and uprights—to last me the rest of my lifetime. As long as parts are available, I'm good. Of course, that's how manufacturers retroactively kill off their legacy product lines. They discontinue parts, and once they become scarce, consumers, especially those with less technical skill, feel they have little choice but to replace their older machines.

I have mixed emotions when I see eBay sellers parting out otherwise serviceable vacuums, but if I can use those parts to keep mine going, so be it. Thankfully, I've also been able to use parts from other models and brands, as well as generic, off-the-shelf parts to fix some of my 'Luxes. My Silverado Deluxe has an ivory colored power switch from an Olympia One and an off-the-shelf front caster from Lowe's, while my Genesis LXe sports a red power switch from a Shark upright. I've made a couple of 'frankenKirbys' as well, but that's for a different thread.

You might see the humor in this. This is a 120 volt Guardian Platinum with early Lux Intelligence Classic skins, Intelligence Premium hose and wand and a 120 volt ET-1 with a neck from the ET-1 sold with the Sauber Excellence ( gawdy gold anodized thing ). This is how Aerus should have sold these in the US.
