New Aerus models

Ctvacman, any word? I haven't gotten an email back from that dealer, and my own dealer closed during covid.

I'm not sure it is a frankenvac? Only because the bumper trim isn't from any existing model. The trim is slick/smooth white (matching the updated Platinum's white body). No existing Classic/Legacy/Ultra model ever had slick white trim. Some of the super old plastic body vacs had off-white trim, but that older trim had texture and creases. Also, the Classic-style PN next to this vac has light (almost white) bumper trim, too. The current Classic PN has dark grey trim.

*Usually* Aerus updates colors across its entire lineup at the same time. I typed out a rundown of this, but then I deleted it because it's tedious. But whenever the top model gets a new color, that color trickles down to the base models (Legacy and Classic). The GP is now white, so I don't think it's an accident that the base models now have white trim on the canister and PN, even if it's a poor match.

My hypothesis is that, rather than having 3 plastic base models (Classic, Legacy, and a new Ultra [which is what the top trim panel looks like on this new vac]), I'm betting Aerus simplified its lineup to just one base model that now has a HEPA filter. I'm betting the Legacy is dead. I'm betting the "Classic" name lives on in the form of this new mystery vac, which has the Ultra panel and sealed HEPA filter setup but with a black body and the Classic's old-school metal wands and no-light PN.

That's just my guess. I just can't see them having 3 plastic body models. And since the HEPA Ultra-styled model pictured is paired with super basic Classic wands and tools, it seems to suggest death to the Legacy, but hopefully I'm wrong. I like the look and the longevity of those old designs and kinda want them around as long as possible.

The Centralux still uses the Legacy style handle and wands. So maybe the new machine will give you either the option of Classic or Legacy accessories.

I'm not sure why they didn't just use the Legacy style handle and wands on the Platinum. They are longer and feel a little sturdier. Plus it would cut down on costs by simplifying to one style.

That vacuum in question is a customer from California that brought it in for service, not a new guardian ultra model.

Hers why

The EU’s hose first off looks like those old braided hoses that were notorious for leaking after 10 years and are stiff…the vinyl ones are a marked improvement. If they went back to the woven hoses too many people that know of those bad hoses would say forget it and not buy. Also that wand and power nozzle doesn’t look nearly as good or as nice as the American made versions which I prefer. Also from a service standpoint the US made power nozzles are the same on all three models and the upright so they are easier to service and require less different parts for dealers to stock. They, are at least stick8 g to the old saying” if it an it broke don’t fix it” by not changing the pn or wands or hose. Aerus has a lot of repeat buyers that are loyalists due to the design…change too much and you’ll lose those customers!

Anyone also notice…

The new Aerus logo. Gone is the orange color in favor of blue…similar to the classic blue colors of the model XXX, LX,LXI, E, AE, 1205, Blue L, ultralux, Legacy and some ambassador models?

Aerus needs to buy back the rights to the Electrolux name for use in the US since Electrolux isn’t selling their machines here anymore…or any of their appliances for that matter.

braided hose

I've had others tell me that it's not a true braided hose it's a crushproof with a braided "sock". Perhaps someone can confirm this?

Lux Hose

Hi,

I have one of the braided Plastiflex hoses and also the wand shown above. It is not a braided hose like the Lawrence/Electrolux was but a faux braid over a Miele style hose. It is flexible and has a great handle grip. I love the telescoping wand. Mine is mated to the Sebo ET-1 but it would have been great with the Aerus Omniflo nozzle as well,

Hoses

Gary,

The only way to get them is to buy off EBAY or have someone buy and ship them to you. The long Powerprof hose in pic one has a mechanical switch that you use on the braided hose handle in place of the push button design with the 220v printed circuit board. france-purification.com has some great videos on taking these units apart and the components that you need.

Aerus LLC makes its own hoses, power nozzles, wands, and attachments. Of course they want to sell their own.

There is no reason why they should feel the need to import this from Lux International. All they would have to do is modernize and build upon their Classic and Legacy models and they would have top of the line machines.

Yes it appears…

The upright lime has been changed. The heavy duty model seems to have a rather high head meaning it less under furniture friendly…they seem to be aiming it at commercial users.

The Lux lite seems to now be focused towards residential users. It would be better for them to redesign the Lux lite with an Lshaped head and also some sort of easy to use attachments. It has the squeegee feature so it won’t throw back dirt when using on hard floors but there is no way to clean anything else but floors with this vacuum. It’s clearly aimed at the Oreck market. If they are going to keep this thing, they need to offer a hand held wearable vac with shoulder strap that can be used foe above floor cleaning similar to so,etching like a shark hand held which has a flex hose and attachments and a mini power nozzle which goes on the main unit and all attachments can be used either on the hose or the main unit. Offer some optional 1 1/4 wands and the combination Classic rug and floor tool with it too. I actually did this with my Shark hand held…I bought an adapter to use 1 1/4 wands with it, added two wands and an Aerus/Electrolux combination rug and floor tool and voila! I have myself a very nice little vac for everything imaginable except heavy duty carpet.

2021 Lux S115 Jubilee Edition

Lux International's 120th Jubilee edition is the reason the Aerus Guardian Platinum underwent a cosmetic update circa 2021. I'm still surprised that Aerus did nothing to mark its 100th last year—not even a decal. In fact, AB Electrolux produced a 100th anniversary book for its 2019 centennial, but seemingly had no jubilee edition cleaner of its own, either.

As to Aerus making its own cleaners, I have a feeling they only outsource except maybe for the accessories as mentioned. I called several years ago and asked for some technical information and was told they had no techs who could answer (I was not put on hold for them to ask anyone or asked to call again another time), and the office personnel had no idea.

Can anyone confirm or deny a motor upgrade for the white LGP or S115?

Btw, what, if anything, does Lux outsource?

Sadly, I agree. It seems surface care appliances have become Aerus's sideline compared to its mainline purification, oxidizers and heating products. I'm even uncertain that it actually manufactures anything on its own; being more of an assembler, packer and distributor along with service and repair. The last time I checked, its website was unclear of this and showed no photos of actual manufacturing.

As much as I hate seeing Aerus go, I'm definitely grateful we have copycats on the market today that'd continue the legacy like the ProTeam ProForce which I think are the best Lux vacuums ever made. Or what I really like are companies that makes machines based off of Lux like the SEBO K3 but with many improvements.

Good point about the copycats.

I just got to thinking that Lux's 125th is coming up next year. Maybe this time around they'll do something more substantial like a new model. One can hope anyway.
