New 2025 Riccar Lineup

Riccar just released four new machines. One is a cordless stick-type cleaner that incorporates mopping abilities into it. The other three are not so "new" except for the one I am most excited about, which is the R27 cordless. I cannot wait to get my hands on one of those. The other two R27's appear to be just white versions of the R25 with minor upgrades from what I can tell. I don't understand why they are still selling the R25's alongside these units because they appear to be nearly identical except for color and price. Maybe this is just until they sell all of the R25's. The R70 stick-vac/mop just appears to be another iteration of the many cordless stick vac/mop machines we already have flooding the floorcare market. What are your thoughts on the new Riccar machines?

Not a huge fan of white, otherwise they would've been perfect under the Simplicity brand if they were still selling higher quality machines as Riccar. Just like when Simplicity's central vacs were later white from grey and Riccar's are still black. I don't know about the cordless stick vac, but I think the cordless upright is gonna be questionable of how well they sell. Riccar's reviews are showing that people regret buying the cordless Supralite after the batteries didn't last for very long and how expensive the replacements are.

I worked for that company 10 years of my life. What a waste of 10 years. I would go to work every day and watch the quality get less, and less, and less. The company would tell people the vacuum was made in America, and a few people put it together from Chinese parts that came in boxes to the factory. I'll never forget the day a motor in one of the top of the line uprights caught on fire while it was being tested on the assembly line. The production manager threw the flaming machine down the concrete steps, still on fire, which is how I know because I stood there and watched it. I will never forget my comment at that moment to my coworker. I said "God I sure hope they don't burn anybody's house down".

My local vac shop told me there would be a new canister in “July or August”. I was in this week for a repair and they said they haven’t had a recent update. So I called Riccar () and I was told the new canister was delayed indefinitely due to tariffs. So we’ll see.

I cherish my old Riccar 1700 canister. One of the better canister vacuums ever made. Easy to use, a decently long hose, great attachments and cleans well. No weird quirks to work around. All I can ask of a vacuum.

Maybe you can answer a question. I long thought the Korean made canister vacuums Riccar and Simplicity sold were made by Samsung. Many internal parts like the motor housing and cord reel strongly resemble the same parts in a Samsung Quiet Storm / Quiet Jet. I have heard others say they were made by Daewoo. Do you know which company made them?

Hmmm. The tariff only applies to the wholesale price of the product delivered to the port of entry, not to the retail price. I do a lot of poking around Alibaba and other sites looking for who makes the many Chinese vacuums sold here by Cirrus, Prolux, Johnny Vac, Simplicity, Airway Scamitizor, etc. Most are just an off the shelf vacuum the manufacturer sells to all and sundry and most wholesale for $60 - $100 boxed with company branding, all the literature, etc., ready to sell, minimum order usually 500 - 1000. A tariff would be applied to the wholesale price. I guess nobody knows what the tariff rate for China is going to end up being so everyone is sitting on their hands waiting for negotiations to play out. So much winning !
