Hi!
I found this vacuum a couple weeks ago. I got it free and it´s in very nice shape. This is made in 1977-1978. Motor 850W. There is lot of functions like blowing function and intergrated tools. And it´s quiet too=)

National MC-571 Deluxe

This is quite "fat" and clumsy but it´s still one of my favourite vacuums. When I was a little boy here was a furniture store which vacuums with same vacuum=) And my aunt owned the same style vacuum but it was green MC-572 with variable speed.

The dust bag is an original National-bag. This was maybe the first ones with integrated tools in late 1970´s and there is a lot of same than 70´s Hitachi vacuums. Actually it even sounds the same. Does anyone know the connection between Hitachi and National and later Panasonic vacuums. I think this was made in Spain but early ones made in Japan?

Oh boy, you made my day! hahah

It's so nice to see one of them practically brand new. I really love old Nationals, they were excellent machines, actually they were one of the most popular machines over here back in the 70's and the early 80's.
I own the same one, but unfortunately the wands and the floor tool are missing, and another MC-571 in green, which is the same one but it has a more powerful motor.

I see that the information sticker is missing on yours, so if you want more info, just ask!

Hi Markus!

The large Japanese electronics company Matsushita (pronounced Mot-sooshta) created the brand names Panasonic and National-Panasonic. The National Panasonic name was never used in North America (only "Panasonic"). More recently, the corporate name Matsushita has been replaced by the name Panasonic even at "head office" in Japan. Also recently, Panasonic bought former competitor Sanyo Electric Company.

Hitachi is a completely separate Japanese corporation. But I imagine many of the Japanese vac-makers shared the same local suppliers. You can see that the Japanese vacuum hoses are all very similar. So maybe the motors come from the same suppliers or suppliers which use similar systems and materials due to Japanese government regulations.

When I was in Japan in 1988, I noticed a lot of similarities among all the vacs in the stores - no matter if they were labelled National or Sanyo or Hitachi or Toshiba.

Hey Brian:

Just an FYI. The Japanese business ideals are different from the North American. Where the companies here work against each other and try to keep stuff very secretive in Japan it is very common for companies to pool their resources to do research then share in the patents. Hence items like the hose connections on the vacuums being very similar between companies. It makes for a much more economical use of resources and keeps costs down.
