Well, Mytee seem to be a company with some history. So that's reassuring.
I doubt they build their own motors, however. I tend to agree with twocvbloke that they probably outsource them. Whether the specs on the motor are prorpietary and commissioned by Mytee, I don't know. I'd imagine they're sourced from China, it makes the most economic sense, but again I don't know.
Now I'm hesitant to think the a product is necessarily inferior just because it is made in China. Sure, there's a lot of low quality dreck made there, but there are good quality products made there too. I guess it comes down to the standards the manufacturer demands from Chinese made OEM parts.
Having said that, what do you guys think about Chinese made replacement motors for vacs? Do they work well and last long? If so, are there makers that known for their quality? I'm interested in the Mytee because of the increased water lift specs over the Ametek. Now that I think about it, it may not be a drop in replacement for the Tristar CXL as it's a bit bigger.
I'm hesitant to buy a generic motor without knowing its track record, no matter where it's made. In fact, I just purchased a Lamb Ametek to replace that in my CXL. It costs more than generic, but I'd rather not risk my motor pooping out in a few years. The Lamb Ametek, as we know, is proven. I'm still interested in more powerful motors, though, as long as they're known to last.
