Here are a few pics of my new Kirby Dual 80. A special thanks to Roger Lequea, Greg Nunn and Fred Nelson for making my dream come true--a Dual 80. I love it.

Oh that's a nice one. Much too nice to hide away completely in the closet so should be left in discrete view to catch the eye of non-vac collecting friends. They won't be able to resist commenting or wanting to touch it. Then you can snap at them if they go to touch it.. "keep your fingers off it" LOL

Dual 80 Looks better than new

Hi Mike What can i say un real. Is that a factory rebuild from Kirby VERY, VERY NICE. I am a Kirby collector and fan of Kirby for years. Funny i LOVE the dual 80 color. I find people either love it or hate it ( WHATS THEIR TO HATE)I wish Kirby would go back to the small head it would make the machine lighter and their would be no need for Teck Drive either. Well ENJOY IT. Take care Doug

Mike, that sure is a beautiful Kirby dual 80!!! I am betting that it didn't look one bit better the day that it left the factory.

That is a great looking machine!!

I always liked the look of the green/shiny of the Dual 80 and blue/shiny of the Tradition! <br
Mr. man! It's beautiful!!!

is it new?!

Wow its perfect. If the Dual 80 had a 500 style handle, it would be my favorite kirby. The colors are great!

Thank you all...

She was in beautiful shape when I got her from Roger Lequea. Thank you Roger. <br
No, she wasn't rebuilt by Kirby, but by a man who owns a small vacuum repair shop. He is the same person who refurbished Fred Nelson's 519 (or was it a 516?). Fred, please correct me if I'm wrong. <br
Fred Nelson gave me the NOS bag, bag top and cord. I found the other NOS parts on eBay--everything from the bag guard, to the sticker on the handle, the wheels, the bumper, and the on/off switch. <br
Greg Nunn shepherded the vacuum through the repair shop. Now, it really looks showroom new. I hope you all enjoyed the photos. <br
The Dual 80 is my favorite because of the color and size. It's such an iconic look. Now, though, I have the bug to get a Dual 50 and a Classic III. So, keep your eyes peeled for me. <br

Mike

Congratulations. Absolutely gorgeous. It's so amazing how much different that particular model looks when it's all buffed out!

I suggest...

....getting one of those short marble columns. Place a round over it, covering that with a tasteful velvet. Then set this work of art atop the display structure. A soft and semi-focused can light upon it...possibly even a glass encasement <br
THAT VAC is beautiful!

We better see that at the convention

I bet others would agree, this would win best resto at a convention!

Here's The One

That the vac guy in Omaha restored for me. A 561 with the fabulous "Starburst" belt lifter. And in RED no less. Red and grey. My earliest memory of a Kirby.

Please at least get me an email or phone #

another close collector

Dubuque! Thats not too far from omaha <br
I really want to start talking to the guy in omaha. Sounds like he knows quite a bit about restoring!

Thank you...

for all the generous compliments, but I don't deserve the credit. I'm just the lucky guy who owns it. <br
Fred dear... <br
Where did you find that photo of me?! Don't ya love my pumps and Danish Modern furniture. <br
I must take some photography lessons from you. Your pictures are much better than mine. Your 561 is stunning. I think it's even more brilliant than mine! Fabulous <br
BTW, some long overdue birthday goodies are on there way to you... finally <br
And, I know I owe you a call <br
Mike

Your D80 is just stunning!

This is Fred picking up his machine in Omaha. These machines are just incredible when they come back. Patience is a virtue but the payoff for a short wait is better than new. Terry, Fred, Mike and I all have machines done by this shop. The owner is a vintage car collector and has the polishing wheels in the basement of the shop.
