I was just looking at that large basin

and it started me thinking .. the way it's shaped, it looks like it would be a PAIN to clean in comparison to the regular basin.

Nm

I looked at all the pics again and noticed the model you have and it answered my question.
Hmm I got 2 rainbows fully unassembled and if I put dishes away it's going to be empty. I may throw them in there and see how well they clean.
There was a rainbow thread started maybe end of last year and had slot of replies. The solution comparable with rainbow and Kirby's. I believe it starts with a p. It got renamed as my wife got some and it's name had changed.

Well, I opened it up to replace the HEPA filter

and this is what I found. What a mess. The filter is so clogged, I'm surprised it has any suction at all. The first picture is the filter, the second is the filter compartment. I'm just speechless.

That's actually

close to being the worst ones I've ever seen! Damn! Whoever used this thing didn't know what the HELL they were doing.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of satisfaction cleaning it up and making it look as close to new as possible. I think these 1 speeds have a cooling filter on top of the motor too.

I'm trying to figure out how that filter fits in...Is the entire square covered by filter? I'm thinking it can't be because those rainbow's filters aren't that large. I guess I'm puzzled why there's caked dirt outside of where the filter would actually be. I guess it got so clogged it had to have somewhere to go. I know on mine, it's a small oval opening and the filter has a gasket....most of the dirty 2 speeds I've seen, you don't see any dirt at all until the filter is taken completely out, then you see it.

My Rainbow

Is the E Series E-2 Single speed. This is the first with the HEPA filter. The entire filter fits into the opening. The side I pictured is the side that faces inside the opening. The side that faces outside is not caked, but has water/liquid stains on it. After cleaning it out, the air flow is so much better, and the exhaust air is noticeably cooler than before. I'm gonna order more filters and keep an eye on it.

Good question

This is the first model that used a HEPA exhaust filter, and while the filter fit the compartment, there was room between it and the vacuum body. Looks like the filter got so clogged that dirt had no where to go. I'm willing to bet that they either ran it with not enough water in the pan, or no water in the pan. The old filter was stained so it appears that they may have over filled it at one point. I've NEVER seen one of these so dirty. I also believe they left it full of dirty water because the mud in the water pan was dried up like cement, and difficult to get cleaned out, but I did it. Obviously the people who had this machine before me either had no idea how to take care of it, or as I suspect, didn't really care. I can guarantee that this will never happen to this machine again because I do know how to take care of it and will perform routine PM to keep it running.

So the filter doesn't have a gasket? It looks like it just pushes back onto the opening.

With the oval filter, it has a gasket that pushes into the oval opening.

The filter does have a gasket around the frame, however with the amount of air pressure behind a clogged filter where else does the air have to go other than around the edges. Basically, At that point the filter frame would flex outward regardless of the back cover holding it in place and allow that mess to escape it.

Oh, I get how it fits in now

like in this video demo

the filter looks HUGE! bigger than the 2-speed oval filters. I clearly see the way it fits in now (not what I was expecting.)

It's so weird that the majority of the filter sits up against the side of the body of the vacuum away from the actual square opening.

Oh, and wonder what the goodvac guy was thinking with this music?
