My New Sanitaire S675 With Its Older Cousin, Kirby

I happened upon a new Sanitaire S675 during my first visit to a local vacuum cleaner shop. I only recently learned about this particular shop. He only wanted $299 for it. I couldn't resist, so I bought it, along with some belts and a package of ST bags. I've been wanting a Blue Line Sanitaire, but have had difficulty finding a new one for a reasonable price. I have a Kirby Classic III that I bought a few years ago from a resale/junk shop for $20. The Classic III responded well to a spa treatment. I also have Kirby G4 that was left in a rental house I worked on.

While I always liked how the Classic III cleaned and groomed my carpet, I must admit I'm blown away at how nice my carpet looks after vacuuming with the S675. It's also lighter and easier to maneuver. Both vacuums seem to have tremendous suction. The brushroll on the S675 seems more aggressive than the new one I put in the Kirby. I don't know if $299 is reasonable for a new S675, but I sure like the new machine.

Hi They are very nice machines keep them both.Your Kirby looks very nice. I have many vacuums in my colection and am a loyal Kirby fan what i do is every two weeks bring up a differant vac-that way they all get used at one time or the other Doug

Yes it is a very good price for a new one. Is yours an ST disposable bag model with a double zipper outter bag? That's the newest i am aware of.

I have found the Red Line Sanitaires discounted online but never the Blue Line, nice buy.

Single Zipper, ST Bag

My S675 has a single zipper and uses Eureka ST bags. I really like the ST bags. My Kirby G4 uses the Style 3 bags. The ST bags seem bigger, and they are easier to install. I don't plan on converting the G4 to use the newer "Style F" bags, though I venture to guess that the Style F bags are as easy to install as the Eureka ST bags.

On Selling My Classic III....

My wife has approached me about selling the "Old Red Kirby." She has used it many times, and likes it better than the G4, but doesn't think I need so many vacuums. I will gladly sell or give the G4 to someone who will enjoy it, but I would regret selling the Classic III. I've replaced the bag, brushroll, wheels, cord, cord hooks, and belt lifter/vis-a-belt window. I've lovingly hand polished the case.

If only I could get my wife to realize that the new blue Sanitaire was purchased to compliment my old red Kirby, not to replace it.

At the risk of sounding misogynistic, I think a lot of women have what I'll call a "liquidation gene". They take great pleasure in getting rid of stuff, just for the sake of getting rid of it. It actually seems to give them pleasure to be wasteful. I don't understand it, myself. I work hard for my money and I do my best to get the most out of the things I own.

Double-Zipper Bag

I found a blue line Sanitaire with a double zipper bag: The S670. Vacshack.com shows it to have a double zipper bag. My local shop is a vacshack.com company. Perhaps The shop sold me the S675 for such a nice price because they were making room for the updated model.

Seems like a win for me! The single zipper bag works just fine for me.

An off topic question: Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using the Sanitaire ST odor eliminating bags over the regular Sanitaire bags? I've linked the ones I'm talking about below. When I bought my vacuum, I bought a package of Sanitaire synthetic ST bags. I do have a dog, which made me wonder if the odor eliminating bags might be a good thing for me. I plan to stick with genuine Sanitaire or Eureka bags, as I've dealt with blown generic bags in the past.
