brush supplied

This is the brush it came with , is this correct, I paid nearly nothing for the machine so I don't care if I must get the right parts , To me it looks like a polishing brush

Gareth, that is a beautiful example! That is the vacuum I remember vacuuming my uncle's supper club with as a child. That's a great bag...do not be tempted to wash it, just vacuum it inside and out real good, you do not want to damage the graphics. That looks like a polishing brush to me too, did it come with a regular brush roll? Definitely a keeper!

That's a beautiful specimen!

40's sounds right for the era.  One friend of my parents had one just like that, and we had the matching handvac when I was growing up.  I have never seen a polishing brush with a vintage Royal but I remember it was still an optional accessory when I bought my 880 back in the 70's.  I'm not certain but it would be worth a try if maybe a new brush roll might fit.  You would just need to check the end to end length.  Royal changed their basic nozzle dimensions/design so little over the years.  Congratulations on finding such a classic and in such good condition.

The brush on the machine could be either a hard floor polishing brush-or a "pile Lifter" brush for carpets. At one time Royal offered pile lifter brushes for their metal upright vacuums. If you use it-be careful the brush doesn't overheat the motor.Go to a vac dealer and see if thyey can get you a replacement soft brush roll for the machine-a stiffner brush roll may overheat the motor on aolder Royal like that one.

I am a vac dealer:)

Unfortunetly royal is off the market here , I have however found a company that still has some spares , going to see them today.

She is a still in great condition , going to give it a complete rebuild this weekend.

I now want more royals though , prehaps a newer model from he early ninties

I believe I have that same machine. That is the floor polisher brush roll... I have never seen one before...Wow...

You can't go wrong with a Royal...just like Kirby...it will last forever and clean like a dream.

yea thats what I thought to but it says 14 amp motor?
No dots or anything.

I have not hooked it up to my test rig to see yet , shall keep you posted. Most vacs here run at about 5 amps due to the higher voltage.

I will say this much , I have not had a chance to get the new brush roll yet and ran it for fun over the carpet without the brush , could hardley move the machine it stuck to the carpet so well, lifted all the dirt it had on it too
