So I've driven a 170 mile round trip tonight (Hunslet Leeds to Blackpool & back to Farsley in Leeds back to Hunslet) to pick up two Kirbys. Got the bug again!

So I have a Feb 2006 (checked the serial number) - Ultimate G Diamond edition http://www.kirby.com/about-kirby/our-models/kirby-models-the-kirby-diamond-edition-vacuum-cleaner/ this is the scruffier of them both - the metal needs a good polish and it stinks of dog too and the brushroll is all clogged up. This is the one I am keeping as it has the two speed switch and as I have a mix of wood floors/carpet/rugs will be ideal for that. Paid £20 for it as no tools other than the hose. Nothing wrong with it really but needs a service and cleanup. Gonna need machine buffing I think but as you can see in the pic still has the handle protective plastic on still.

Next up is a July 2003 (again checking the serial number) Ultimate G so it's older brother. This is in really good nick other than having the wrong brush roll in it or a copy brushroll it's in great shape and I reckon I can work on this myself at home with spit and polish so to speak. I might do this one up and sell it on although I paid £75 for this one as it has a full brand new unused set of tools with it! I might keep both!

Had a disaster today when cleaning them up...

Would taking this out cause issues with the tech drive being over keen. It seems to be struggling more on thick carpet now. I removed the part that this attaches to that engages the metal lever that activates the tech drive as it was rusty and I wanted to clean it up.

Kirby Handle Pivot Spring Assy. Fit G3 G4 G5 G6 G7 ULT G Diam Sentria https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O05W5WC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SPPaybB8AMA1E

The piece it connected to had 2 x V Shaped plastic sliders with tiny little rollers unassuming To slow the handle back and forth.

I didn't adjust the pivot assy or touch the tech drive. Maybe it's in my head the tech drive still activates back and forth with a finger touch.
