My new Electric-Lux 1205!

If you want people to take you seriously about the brand your talking about, you need to use the name appointed by the manufacturer, and recognized world wide.

Electrolux is the name.

Regional nicknames or whimsical childhood names can be misinterpreted, and be found to be annoying by some people.

Also, over the years some companies have used names that were spelled similarly, or LOOK similar, to established brands. Often these fly-by-night brands were only around for a short time and the products were cheap.

A name, as you've used, looks cheap and it's annoying. The model 1205 vacuum, however, that you've attained, is a quality product. It was the first square bodied machine. Yours will need a new top, or at least a replacement handle. It looks like you have a nice, complete unit otherwise.

Enjoy.

Ok, Electrolux. My intent was not to undermine or offend, I'm just using a vernacular. Interesting arguments, though. One learns something new every day!

I think the absence of the handle is why I got the deal on mine. The ebay seller said that a new handle could cost $40, so I will not worry about that. I may get a non braided, corrugated hose and still keep the braided one, though.

That's a great machine. With a little TLC, it will give you great service for a lifetime. Unlike most of today's crap-tastic plastic junk, they were built to last--and to be repaired.

And I can attest to what others have said about replacing the hose and brush roll. I got a used 1980s vintage genuine Electrolux vinyl hose ($27) and a new brush roll for my PN1 ($12) and the machine turned from a 'fair-to-middlin' performer to an absolute BEAST that cleans nearly as well as my Kirby G6. With a little patience and persistence, you will find the parts you need at affordable prices.
