Just got this off ebay, I've bought from that seller before, but...
Turns up- NO BLOODY FILTERS IN THE THING!!!
So I put some filters in it, fired it up... And..,
Motor was making a popping sound with an acrid burning stench that filled my room!!!
AAAAR!!!

OMG! :( NOO, im sorry mate, that happened to my DC05 too, smoke filled the front room and had a disgusting smell, theni stuck a dc07 motor in and VROOM! it worked :D

I'm sorry this has happened to you George :(
Like thekirbylover said, try and contact the seller before negative feedback, most seller's are helpful when solving problems.

Hope it all get's sorted soon!

The item was described
"Complete, All works fine etc..., item is used so will need a clean"
And it was only £13 so I don't know what I'm worrying about!
Anyway my dad bought it for me. I ws surprised to see a box when I came home and my dad told me to open it, and there it was!
Anyway my dad just said that it doesn't matter and he doesn't really care that his £20 was not spent wisely... He just said 'its second hand, and from eBay, what do you expect???'
So I'm just going to buy a new motor!

The red color is GORGEOUS. A new motor shouldn't cost too much, especially if you have a friend with a vac shop who might get it for you at wholesale. I love my DC05 MotorHead - and my DC05 Absolute - but to have one in that beautiful shade of red would be excellent. Congrats on a very nice machine that so easily can be restored. The motor is the heart of the machine. So a new motor means it will be virtually a new machine.
