Dave came to town today Subaru loaded to the gunnels with found treasures from afar of which he will be posting about on a separate thread however to my surprise he brought me this fabulous new Hoover Constellation. I'd been wanting one but kept putting it off and now you can't seem to find any except the white ones around here if you're lucky. Well here it is. I was hesitant about opening the carton because I was thinking once I do that it won't be new in box anymore.

Love the new vacuum. It's only shortcoming is the hose which doesn't stay stretched out and keeps pulling the machine back to bang on my feet.. You can see it in this Youtube I made

Aw shucks, I accidentally ended up with two and who better to have the joy of de-flowering a virgin NIB Constellation than my good pal, Pete, who has been so kind to always add to my car's load on return trips.

My new Connie

Pete,
What a great gift! I got one as a gift for my birthday. I haven't used mine yet. It is a beautiful vacuum. Something about the stainless and black trim. You will always remember and that will be a special vac to you.

Hoover

Hi Pete Good luck with your new constellation what wonderful machines they are .I have a model 84 still works as good as the day it was new. When i think of what happened to the old Hoover company it makes me want to cry. I really hope that the few AMERICAN made machines we have left will stay a float. Air way to what a shame. I have a friend who works for Kirby he says they are just about keeping their heads above water. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for it?. Also i have heard they dont do a deep cleaning on rugs but are very good on floors. Well again ENJOY Doug

Pete, congratulations on your new Connie, I know that you are going to love it. I have one as well and find myself reaching for this vacuum more than any other as it is so easy to use. Not the best on carpet but it sure does a good job on hard surface flooring.

Ankle-banging solution for the new Constellation

I also find the little silver thing banging into my feet. As much as I love the attention, it IS annoying!

The solution is easy - when you want Connie to stay put, just let her ride up over the cord, and the "hovercraft" effect is gone. You then have some leeway to stretch the hose as far as you need it. Then when you want her to float again, just pull the cord away.......and off she goes!

Nothing beats an old vintage connie that's for sure but for a Chinese made replica these are surprisingly well built machines. It works really well cept for that short hose so I would recommend one to someone who absolutely wants a brand new vacuum cleaner and doesn't have a lot of money to spend
