And here it is next to my Solaris Electro Plus. You might notice that the Acrylic only goes to 1100 Watts, and the Solaris EP goes all the way to 1200, its because the Solaris EP has the newer Vortex motor, and the Acrylic has the older style motor.

Hey Charlie... congratulations on your new Miele

I'm a newbie. I just discovered this site by accident. Wow! I was in shock. I thought I was the only vacuum fanatic.

Hopefully, you've received the email I asked Fred Nelson to forward to you. I'm really anxious to talk with you about the Air-Way I just bought off eBay. What a deal... I hope. I'm going to need to get it cleaned, serviced and get the upgrade kit with beater brush, hose, etc... I'd greatly appreciate your advice. I hear you're the Air-Way expert. You're actually the reason I found this site. But, I'll explain in more detail offline if/when we exchange emails.

I think you'll really like your Miele. I've had one for 10 years and love it. In fact, I just purchased the new Capricorn today. Yeah. Got a great deal on it and even a free tune up on my old Miele. I agree with what everyone is saying about the new duster brush. I haven't used it yet, but it sure seems Miele skimped on this item.

Patrick, a.k.a., sleepdoc, if you're reading this, I'm really interested to learn more about the deluxe straight suction hose #05269601 you mentioned. Can you give me the contact information for this Andy person? Will I get a good deal on it? I was so excited with all the new models--I live a mile from a Diamond-Level Dealer--that I wasn't even thinking about what a challenge it would be to use the attachments with the new handle design. I was tempted to get the limited edition Gemini (available only through the diamond dealers) just because of the cool retro color. I also like the dial design a little better than the design of the Capricorn. It was a hard decision.

Again, congrats Charlie. And, looking forward to hearing from you. You too Patrick.

Welcome Mike, We are glad to have you here with us. Hope that you will consider joing the VCCC. Our convention this year will be in Omaha this coming September and I know that you would really enjoy it. Terry

Hi Terry...

Thanks for welcoming me to the site. I am considering joining the club. Loved your profile by the way. I'll share my story offline sometime. All the stories I've read seem so familiar, especially Morgan Frazer's--we share a lot in common.

Since finding the site I've also gotten the bug to get a few more vacuums. It started with the Vita-Vac I found on eBay and my purchase of the new Miele. Now, I'm looking at a brand new Royal 1030Z Commercial upright and a refurbished Kirby ULT G. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Also found out that I may be in Omaha about the same time as your convention, on my way to visit family in Iowa and Kansas City.

Mike

Yes

The body of the Acrylic is made of acrylic plastic, which is clear so you can see inside of it. It was designed for showing in vac shops to let people see the sealed filtration, and motor and other parts they used.

Mike,

I have sent you an email so let the corresponding begin!

You will find a wealth of knowledge on these forums about all kinds of vacuums either new or vintage. You will also find some of the nicest, generous and truly good folks here too.

I found out about the VCCC in 2000 and have been very active and involved since. A group of people here are now my family, so welcome!

Charlie

Calling Andy Weter......................................

What is the best number to reach you:

during the day
not during the day
and on weekends?

BTW, your article on Air-Way in the last VDTA magazine, (April issue), was WONDERFUL!! I am so glad that someone is putting into print the history of Air-Way with the names of the crucial founders/developers. For Air-Way fans, make sure to get a copy of this and save it!

Andy, maybe you could post a print of here with the proper permission from whomever is needed. There is going to come a time in the not too distant future that this information is no longer going to be available. Thanks again for a great story about a company that contributed immensely to the vacuum industry and was way ahead of it's time in many ways.

Hey Charlie... Thanks for the greeting.

Hey Charlie I just read your email. Great hearing from you and great meeting you. I sent you a fairly long reply, so beware! LOL... I'm looking forward to many more conversations with you.

Mike

Andy and Charlie, that article sounds very interesting. How would one go about getting a copy of it?? Thanks Terry

Terry,

I will make you a copy and mail it to you. I think you will really like it and it is worth keeping to remind us of the history of Air-Way.

Andy's article was part 1 of his written history.

Charlie....

I can be reached at the store at (417) 881-3400, and the best time is usually between 4:30-6:30 Central time. Anyone else who wants to give me a shout is more than welcome as well.

P.S...

I'm so glad you liked the article!! Next month will focus on the dual motor machines and the Dirtmaster.
