My new baby (Hoover 26 Upright)

The first time I've ever adopted a 72 year old baby (I usually like that age number transposed to 27 when, ahem, "adopting", lol) - but this one is a beauty! A 1938 Hoover Model 26, complete with original box, cleaning tools, etc. She is in awesome shape, runs great, and is a knockout! Many thanks to godparents Marc Turbyfill and Rick Benedikt for facilitating the adoption process

That looks awesome! Was there a lens cap for the headlight's on this model, or is that how Hoover designed it?

Obviously, I haven't seen many of these...sorry.

And I really really like your whole warm decorative scheme with the furniture style and wall paint & rug colour choices. Dark Ruby & Oxblood reds and browns. Paper bag tan, leather & oak, even the red cat ball toy by the desk matches.

Because I do not know the Hoover 28...is that a brown rubber bump strip running across the top of the motor hood?

That is the BEST example I have EVER seen of that model! My aunt had that very same machine. I just went to her estate sale this summer. When I looked in the hall closet,there sat part of the tools.
I sure want to that baby up close someday! The bag is in wonderful condition.

That is one incredible specimen! The model 26 is such a beautiful machine... You are super lucky to have gotten that. I don't think I've ever seen a base on that style/era of machine with so few scratches. How is the agitator/brushes? ((If you need brush strips, I probably have extras -- let me know)). Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous cleaner. You have a beautiful collection -- I've always admired it (what I've seen you post in pictures on here). You should get some of the others out and have a family reunion photoshoot.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys - I'm pretty excited to have her. Steve - I'm not sure about the headlight lens, I'm sure it might have had one at one time. Actually Fred, you probably know the answer to that one. Dave - the strip across the top is bakelite I think, it's hard like the motor head.

Fred - I've see a lot of pics of your collection and am pretty GREEN with envy. Hopefully we will get to meet in person at the convention in Minneapolis next year, but if you guys are ever down Indy way be sure and look me up. Also thanks much for the offer of the brush strips, but Marc had just put some NOS ones in it so it is all set. I should have taken some pics of the underside of the machine, it looks brand unbelievably new. This baby must not have had lots of use back in the day!

Lovely!! I must say. It's in such pristine condition - looks as though it has hardly been used. A real find for a vacuum of that age. Is the cord original?
