Guardian upright

I have a question for the experts. If you were choosing between an upright Aerus guardian and sebo x 5, what would you recommend ?
Thanks for your advice!

Cliff

Aerus Guardian Upright I would choose over Sebo X5 .

Aerus has easier bag changes cheaper bags also . Cleans very well a great vacuum period .I prefer tools seperate so I am not pushing around and dealing with them .
Plus I love the L shaped nozzle on the Aerus to get into tight spots better.

Sebo`s auto height adjustment drives me crazy because it adjusts
constantly while cleaning and it seems like it doesnt clean that well no groom marks in carpet.

Cliff, I don't know a lot about uprights, but as far as customer service Aerus Electrolux can't be beat. Any service issues or if you need bags or supplies they will come to you at your home. With other brands if there is not an authorized repair dealer near you, you have to ship it back somewhere like I have to do with my vapor steamer.

The Sebo Felix is much better... you get probably one of the best groom marks from a Sebo Felix not the X5. I have the Guardian Upright, it does a great job, even though its a bit dated in design and the off board tools are very inconvenient, and so annoying- I def would not go with the x5, it seems like it doesn't groom deep enough. Both however, have the L shaped design, if that matters to you.

Thanks! Knew I would get informative, good advice. I was leaning toward the Aerus , as I love my platinum so much, and have had electroluxs since I was a kid. I've never dealt with the uprights however. I want a quality machine, it will be cleaning brick floors and Pursian rugs. I've always used canisters before, but need something to grab quickly out the closet. We do not have a dealer in the state , so that makes it a little more difficult. I must buy without seeing or trying. What is a descent price? Thank y"all for the advice. Love to learn, from people who really know.
PS Mr. Mike, I love the new floors as well!!!!

reach out to the member funeraldirector Brian he can help you with your purchase .
His email address is in his profile he posted in this thread.

You will love the upright , I have owned them since they introduced them in 1996 as the Discovery II and every model after that . Very reliable and easy to use on
bare floors and carpets .

Good Luck

dan you are an incredible educator

dan as i hoover dealer i have such a respect for you and funeral director and luxman when it comes to the aerus products....i lear so much from reading your posts .....studying the updates and new models through your eyes who have collected them for so many years and to be all brand new and purchased by you and not picked out of the trash or taken from relatives and friends makes them that much more special

Thanks Cliff, Good luck with your purchase. Glad we could help ,
Thank you too John. I am no where near the expert that some guys are on the board. I just love lux products and its history.

What motor does the Guardian Platinum use? Is it single or twin fan? Will the Guardian Platinum outperform any TriStar with the Ametek 119523 high-performance motor?

Lux Motor

Dan,

Thanks for the referral. I am told the motor is a standard Domel spinning 50,000 RPM. I have not seen the actual motor itself as the ones in the parts section of Lux France show it inside its white plastic cover. Excellent pics of some of the component parts of this vacuum though and includes pricing in euros. Lets take yours apart and look it over so I can answer this for sure. The last time I was in Bass River Township I got a ticket for flying a Jag 93 mph in a 65 mph construction zone right before the toll.

My bags are bowing the cardboard sleeve so maybe that is why there is some minor dust leakage.

There is a huge difference between this and the Ultra so the same would be true for the Tristar CS

Cardboard Collar....

Eluxca mentioned earlier in this thread that Aerus mentioned a problem with the bag collar. I called Aerus to follow up on the new bags. She told me they had not made the bags thicker and she was not aware of any problems. I realize that everyone that answers the phone, cannot be up on everything. I feel that the newer bags were thicker, but who knows. There was an engineer in the next room and she put me on hold to talk to him. When she came back, she confirmed the engineer admitted to possibly having a problem with the bag collars and were researching what to do. At that time, I mentioned the fact that they took off the rubber seal on the tube that goes into the vacuum bag. She had a Guardian there and looked at it. It did not have one either. I suggested that this could be the problem for the leakage. She took my phone number and was going to talk with the engineer again and let me know when they came up with a solution.

I haven't heard back yet, but it has only been a few days...If I hear anything, I will post the reply from Aerus. That rubber gasket has been on Electrolux's for years and it does cover the complete hole when the lid is shut. Wonder why they took it off?

Bags

All,

My suggestion to the Lux New England Regional Franchise Director this past week was to introduce the cloth bags for the machine. Mine is making a spot on the HEPA about the size of a tennis ball. If you remove the bag and tip upside down there is a matching spot on the bottom of the bag that matches the color of the filter stain. Also my cardboard sleeve is buckling in the middle as well. Maybe these is too much power lol. The hardest part is removing the Miele S8 stuck in the end of the hose. I am going to try some of the european bags and a couple other things that interest me. My best friend's wife is from South America so she is going to "pick me up a few things" next month.

I have the same issue with the bags on my platinum. Customer service is sending new bags and a filter. They said bag leakage was taken into account, and why they have two filters. She was so nice I didn't want to argue that Aerus would not design that on purpose. Seems like a simple fix - cloth bags. Or just put collar back on current style bags. It is such a great vacuum that this small issue is annoying. Waiting to hear the solution.
