I seriously doubt that windtunel can could out clean any vacuum. Say them with a miele s7 and a kirby . I bet if you went over the same spot where the windtunel went with the miele you will find dirt.

Dan, you should be ashamed of yourself for saying the Hoover Windtunnel will outclean a Miele! Even if it IS at 1/4 of the price! For starters, I have both vacuums....the Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary: 85" waterlift, 2004 Miele Red Velvet that has the same Vortex motor as the S5 series: 100" waterlift. As for Consumer Reports, to my knowledge, when they tested the S5 Miele Callisto, they tested the EARLIER version which came with the SEB217 powerhead, NOT the SEB228 with the heavy-duty brushroll they later upgraded the Callisto to. So OF COURSE it wouldn't clean as well....DUH! But take a Miele canister with the SEB228 or SEB236, & it'll clean circles around that Hoover.
And if that wasn't bad enough, Consumer Reports testing of the Hoover's filtration system is flawed, too. They gave the Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary an "excellent" rating for filtration. Yet, I asked GoVacuum whether the Royal Lexon S20 canister (which is identical to the Hoover except for a different hose handle, wand & powerhead) would blow zero on a particle emissions scanner, & they ADMITTED the Royal WILL NOT filter down to zero emissions on a particle scanner....that it will filter down to just under 10,000 particles. Without the cloth HEPA bag, that Hoover would be blowing tons of dust into the air!
FantomLightning is also correct in saying the Hoover wouldn't last as long as the Miele. The Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary has a MAJOR problem with the circuit boards failing prematurely inside the canister....after a couple of years, it will stop supplying power to the hose to power the powerhead. I have seen at least 10 Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary canisters come thru our local repair shop in the past year, & Hoover usually repairs the vacuum under warranty without question or hassle. This is one vacuum that needs a re-design for sure!
Dan, you go ahead & support Hoover & a canister that's a poor imitation of a Miele. I'll take my Miele & have a vacuum that cleans & filters far better & last four times as long as your Chinese-made piece of Hoover garbage! I would even take the Chinese-made Shark Professional canister vacuum (another Miele copycat) over the Hoover! At least the Shark will clean as well as a Miele at 1/4 the price....something the Hoover can't claim to do.

One of my house cleaning clients owns a Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary. It is very good cleaner. Never used a Miele so I can't comment on that but the Windtunnel is a very good cleaner. The powerhead is very powerful. Hair, dirt, dust everything gone. The bare floor brush is gigantic. Really helps get floors clean quick, included turbo nozzle is also a big plus. I found it for her on eBay for $200 NIB. Miele would not have been in their price range.
I would be bet that the Windtunnel outcleans my Riccar 1700 canister on carpets. The Riccar is good, but I don't feel its as strong on rugs as some other vacuums I've used. The suction is terrific, agitation is strong but extremely narrow opening for brush roll cavity and I don't like the new Cen-Tec design brush roll with removable strips. I think the Riccar would clean better with the wooden chevron brush roll.
Generally I reduce the suction down to 3 bars instead of 5 on the electronic power control when using the power head. I find the power head maneuvers better and gets better agitation with the suction unit not running on full power. The suction unit is very quiet.
I suffer from allergies and the filtration on this machine does quite well in my book. It's a much better sealed canister design from the older PowerMax case. The bag lid shuts better, cord is more flexible, Can't find any leaks on suction unit. Pre motor filter could be a little thicker, better material but post motor HEPA seems to do quite well.
My only complaints so far are the hose and power head. Very stiff not so flexible hose. Hand grip is not very comfortable for use either. The Windtunnel power nozzle is good but the wheels are terrible. I'd prefer trying this machine with the newer style Windtunnel power nozzle which has rubber coated wheels, solid surface suction duct-- no rubber supports for head light and some other updates.

support Hoover and Kirby are the top machines made . Miele makes many parts and some vacuums in china so what ? You should be ashamed of your self for not knowing that .I owned a vacuum store and sold Miele I was not impressed with the new Mieles at all. Tacony Riccar Simplicity are way better machines . Miele used to be good when they made the Aluminium , Silver and Blue moon now they are not up to par as they used to be .That zero emissions tester is a bunch of crock all Miele vacuums smell after using them a while even with the charcoal Hepa filter and the cloth filtrete style bags .

Doesn't every vacuum outclean the competition? As long as the winner goes 2nd after the loser? They are both winners and losers...and I'm surprised the Panasonic in the pic hasn't been thrown into the argument.
I have a Miele. It's very powerful, but I agree that I notice a vacuum smell and I'm slightly disappointed. And there's a youtube video somewhere commenting about how the Miele floor tool is flawed and pushes dirt around. No vacuum is perfect, but I would choose the Miele anyway over the Hoover.

All vacuums even Rainbow will leak out some dust . And on the Miele side even tho its says it zero might be a true when the filters new . So if the filteration is a problem and you have alleriges and hate a smelly vacuum, which i only have that problem is when i had my rabbit in side. Then get a Central vacuum. Also ive used those so called Tacony vacuums and the are cheaply made in book.

The Miele looks great and it's really nice to see the Hoover beside the Miele since it is an obvious imitation... It's been said that imitation is the highest form of flattery. There is no doubt that the Miele is a a better quality machine, and I'm glad that you have the upgraded power nozzle (I have the SEB217 on my Meile Plus, and the suction is amazing, but the power nozzle isn't nearly aggressive enough.... but I have mostly short flat carpet, so it doesn't matter)... The Hoover does have a few features that the Miele lacks (360 degree swivel hose (apparently Miele used to do that, but had problems with them), quick release power nozzle, and telescopic wand), but the Miele has height adjustment with the upgraded power nozzle, and I don't think Hoover has ever offered that on a canister, have they?

Simplicity/Riccar...good look finding a retailer or the supplies/parts for it. Nothing is perfect, but if you cannot find them, due to lack of promotion, marketing or insufficient distrbution outlets, then the product is pointless. What is with the American Vacuum brands being so prohibitive to purchase, makes no sense! Another ridiculous concept is they make the same machine under two different names- Riccar & Simplicity, how stupid. Last, not many people even know what a Simplicity is, I thought it was a line of powertools two years ago. I would buy a Miele. Miele Sales, Service and Parts can be found ten times more easily than Tacony.
