My Miele Titan having issues

My Titan, I think a 2000 series? Cheapest full sized powerhead model, I got it 8 years ago, reading the exhaust filter, still on bag 5? Not my favorite to use, hose and cord frustrate me. Today after months of non use, as normal, I powered it up and the speed control was going bat shit nuts. Low speed was up and down all over, higher up, less so. After a while it was working normally.It still looks new, seldom used and never by anyone else, is this a weak point, or am I just really a lucky guy???

How ever what is it about the hose and cord that frustrates you? From the sound of the way the motor is speeding up and slowing down could be a circuit board issue. If it has one.

Nice to know about these things. I get asked a lot about a good vacuum from time to time from my customers I clean for. Not everyone shares my passion for the Kirby.

I've never seen that on an s2121 or s2120 . Quite strange. The motor should still be under factory warranty which also have houses a triac control board.

There's also a circuit board that the rheostat and switch go into that are a complete assembly with the cord reel on that model.
My recommendation would be to see if a Miele dealer would warranty out the motor and see if that fixes the problem.

Interestingly, again I had not used it in a year? The next time it worked fine????Was only acting up on lowest setting, made me think rheostat? Anyway, again not a favorite, but ordered online, no stores here. Hose too short and not fond of the end, cord Short and stiff, leaves curls to trip and fall over, for me

I wonder if some of the copper segments of the motor's commutator might have become tarnished in storage and become temporarily non-conductive?

I was told by a few folk, that car electric windows can suffer a similar fate through lack of use.

Thanks for the thought, but it's stored indoors, in a very dry closet. But who knows. Car windows different being outdoors essentially and they can go bad from non use, some of that the mechanism sticking
