Trying to use my shampooer for the first time. Not so good. The shampooer is from a G5, the Kirby is an Ulitmate. Can not make suds. First the little screen kept getting pushed into the hose. Finally taped it in place. Made sure the sponge filter is clean. I found the hose was loose going into the connectors, made sure to tighten them. Four attempts and still no suds. The tank empties very quickly and the brush is definently getting up some dirt and throws it as dirty water into the tray. Any thoughts?

I would replace the hose and the suds screen, especially if the carpet shampoo system has had a lot of use by the previous owner. The hose openings stretch out with use and the suds screen won't stay in place. The brushroll will also wear with lots of use.

Make sure the suds control valve is open all the way and that you mix the solution properly. If everything checks out, the Kirby definitely SHOULD make suds.

Thanks Sptyks, I will do that. Since I'm kinda new to World of Kirby is there a suggested place to order from or should I just go to Kirby? Again, thanks for your help.

suds screen

Be sure you have the suds screen in with the screen facing the shampooer NOT the tank. That screen can be put in both ways and, with the screen facing the tank, it will not make suds but will empty the tank very quickly

Maybe this is dumb question but

are you using Genuine Kirby suds? Regular extraction shampoo won't work with a Kirby. No offence intended just asking.

Okay just checking.

I wonder if Kirby shampoo goes bad. Just to be safe I would clean all the parts with some white vinegar to remove any build up then try a fresh bottle of Kirby shampoo. If often found it best to explore the least expensive options first just in case. If the little screen is blocked with shampoo a good soak in vinegar and water for a few hours should cure that.

Used my Heritage I Rug-Renovator the other night, ran like a semi-dream! Suds galore, and a lovely Lavender scented carpet!

put it

back in the box and forget about it its little more than useless and more trouble than its worth .I have lost count of these shampooers that have been used once then put back in the box and disgarded Kirby would do well to discontinue this atachment and lower the price alittle having said that i love my kirby and wouldnt use any other cleaner nothing beats it as a vacuum

Anthony, not all of us find the shampooer useless! I adore my Rug-Renovator, it digs-out deeply embedded dirt, and leaves the carpet lightly scented! this is fine and great for light-cleaning, but when you pair the Rug-Renovator up with a HOOVER steam-vac, you have an unstoppable carpet-cleaning force!
