  I hadn't rebuilt a Kirby in over three years until the Classic III I recently completed.  I have the bug again, so next up will be the 511 that I acquired almost four years ago. 


 


Sadly, when I removed the fan case, I discovered that the original fan was busted in a couple of places.  Luckily, I have an early 500 series fan kit, but it's just not going to look right!  I'm disappointed that original six blade fan can't be used, so I'll be on the lookout for one in order to keep it all original. 


 


I'm glad the handle spring on this thing is in good shape too.  The last time I did one those, I just about lost my religion!  The early 500s are hard to do.  You really need three hands! 


 


I love digging into these things, because the engineering aspect fascinates me.  I always document everything with photos, so here are a few!  Hope you're not too bored!
