Hi all. My name is Mike and I'm in Saint Louis Missouri. I just joined the forums and thought I would say hello. I won't list all the vacuums I have since that's available in my profile, I actually just picked up an Aerus Classic today. The dealer had a new one and a refurbished one, and since I have all hard wood floors I don't need the power nozzle, so I think he wanted to sell the refurbished one so he would not have a power nozzle without a new vacuum. This one is about a year or two old, it's actually quieter than the brand new one. He let me have it for $350 and included several bags with it. It's in perfect condition, and even though I did not get a powerhead, it still has the electric hose so I can use the Wessel Werk mini electric brush that I have. I have some other thoughts, but will put them in separate posts in this thread, I've done a lot of reading on this forum so far and it's awesome.

Welcome!

Nice to see another collector in the St. Louis area! We will have to get together sometime when time permits. This is a wonderful website, lots of eye candy, knowledge, and lots and lots of opinions...lol. It's too bad you missed the convention, it was a lot of fun with a lot of nice people, part of the glue that keeps us together! Pretty much any questions you might have regarding vacuums can probably be answered here by one or another collector. It's also nice to see that you're a "supporter" of the website, Robert does a great job, and some of us that do not participate in "social media" would have no other source. I don't know if you've ever checked out our sister website Automatic Washer but it's a sight to behold as well! Enjoy!

convention

Yes, I didn't know about the convention, but will definitely try to go next year, where and when are they held? So far I am loving the site, I don't do social media, yes, nice to know there is another collector in the St. Louis area, south St. Louis in this case.

There are LOTS of vacuum collectors in the St. Louis area. Some own their own vac shops and do remarkable work on both new and vintage cleaners. The St. Louis collectors try to get together at least once a month, to have dinner and visit, and play with any new 'finds'.

Welcome!!

Nice to see another new "face". I tend to focus on the vintage forum, so I don't always get to meet the new people here on the contemporary forum.

I hope your collecting continues to bring you joy and your questions are answered quickly!

Again, welcome!

We have a Convention of vacuum cleaner collectors, at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum at the Tacony Factory in St. James, Missouri - the second weekend in June, every year. Many people come from all over the country. No 'fee' to come to the convention. No 'banquet' with 'awards', just fun and a Bar B Que on Saturday (food provided by Tacony Corporation). We have drawings for free vacuums (Gave away a Maytag M1200 this year), plus we open the Museum's store rooms for the collectors - as well as trips to other area collector's homes to see their collections. You are more than welcome to come next year.

Good price and a good machine. I believe you can use almost any power head with a 1.25" fitting and pigtail electrical connection, commonly used on central vac systems.
