I got this Hoover Model 50 a few months ago at the Ann Arbor Reuse center. It was covered up by some crap, but the box just caught my eye, and figured that it was just some tools for an upright that wasn't there. Imagine my surprise when I found this VGC Hoover AeroDyne with all the toys with it.....

It also came with a VGC box as well.....

The box was what caught my eye because it wasn't really dirty or ratty. The machine had an orange extension cord for the power supply, and the hose was a white replacement. I got this hose later from a very destroyed later model AreoDyne.... This machine of course should have had a woven hose. I replaced the horrid orange cord with a cord I had from a parted out model 28. Essentially making this machine "stock", but not completely original...

And another picture of the box and machine with my big head.

Of course with the famous Hoover Advertising slogans written inside the lid.....

No wthis shot is just freakin creepy....

My mom was helping me take the photos as Alan had to work when I went to Lansing to take these photos, hence my crappy shots with some blurry images.

However..this one takes the cake for the scariest picture EVER take of me.... When I saw it it made me a bit nervy.... Am i really the devil incarnate!!! I mean LOOK AT MY EYES!!!!!!

Nice find, Chad!

And especially with the original box and most of the original tools! And in such good condition, too! Now all you need is to find an original tool caddy, upholstery tool, and an instruction book and you're all set!
Congrats!

Well...It did come with this.....

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the response. I assumed that the metal upholstery tool was orig to the cleaner...my bad. I wasn't aware that a cardboard caddy came for the tools as well...Looks like I have something to look for.

No I do not have the instruction mnual either...but packed inside this great little case was a repair manual for all Hoover cleaners from 1920 to 1950.

Here's a pic of that book!!!

It even tell how to repair the 50, the Dustette and the Iron!!!

Chad...

This machine is so complete. You have the much harder to find floor nozzle there. So many are the newer rubber covered version that they used in the 1950's. I wonder how long that they made that particular nozzle? Great photos!

Upholstery Nozzle

Chad, I think you're right--that probably is the original upholstery nozzle. I'm sorry, at first glance it looked like white plastic to me. When you get to be my age your eyes can play tricks on you at times.
Nice book you got with it, too! Looks like a 28 on the cover below the 50. Bet it's chock full of interesting info!
I've got a model 42 Aerodyne I need to round up some tools for someday. It's the tan & blue one.

Hello Gentlemen! I just recently inherited my parents Model 50 from 1951! Simply stunning! Are there paper dust bags for this model? At the bottom of the cloth bag is a screw, I wonder if this is how you pull it out to empty it? some advice would be wonderful! Thanks! Frank
