So nice to see all METAL Vacuums instead of many Plastic ones today. What a shame. What can we say?

You could go with a black corduroy.
With Flash it looks gray but it is black.
I made a bag for my 305 out of black corduroy.

Yes, corduroy is an option too. Most I’ve found have been too “ribbed” and are hard to silkscreen logos and stripes onto.

I would prefer to find “cavalry twill” in 14 oz weight and 100% cotton. Bull Denim is close to cavalry twill. It’s not a “blue jeans” denim, but a very tight diagonal twill weave fabric. Strong and stiff like duck canvas, and takes dye and silkscreen ink well too.

I haven’t seen a herringbone or chevron weave cloth that would suit. But there might be one out there somewhere. I’ve had some luck sourcing industrial cloth makers, drop cloth or canvas awning suppliers for the more unusual weaves.

If I spot something that might work, I’ll let you know!

I made a Kirby bag out of duck canvas

here it is but I dont know what became of it. this was in 2007. the logos not real good because I used iron on transfer. bag came out ok though

What a great question, and yes I have thought about that very thing. If I had a super power I would love the ability to touch something and be transported back into time to see when the object was first built, or was sold to it's first owner. I think that would be fascinating.

So as such, when ever I get an old vacuum or any interesting old item, I will first close my eye's and just put my hands on it and try to take it all in. What that might be I can't say, just something I like to do.

my 2C Kirby manual has some writing on the top at the front I can read some of it but some of the paper is actually flaking off. what I can see looks like it was written in fountain pen(I have a great interest in those too)
