WOW! I sure would love to have this vacuum. I can understand you totally on wanting to not ever use it. I have several vintage items I have won on Ebay that were never used from 35 yr old window A/C units to Sump Pumps. Little about me. I am Shawn. I have Autism which explains my deep love and passion for electrical appliances. I love to collect them, and repair them also. I just started collecting central vacuums, and I found this site, and now I don't feel so out of place for collecting an odd thing LOL. Yes many collect vacuums, but not central type units. So many videos on You Tube of people collecting vintage uprights to canisters, but no central vacs. The GE unit you have here is definately made by Beam, and is equivelent to the Beam 254 model. I'll include a photo. I had a chance to buy this 254 on Ebay, but auction got best of me. The vacuum was not in besat of shape, so I was steered away from it. I like to collect things that are not beat up, and this unit was dingged, and pretty roughed up. So far I have 5 central units to start with. I just purchased a 1982 Dust Care Model DCC-1 on ebay for a buy it now of $60 plus $30 to ship. It's a pretty looking unit. Cool Sky blue with a Navy blue dirt canister, and top half. Middle part is sky blue, o lighter blue if you want to call it that. I actually contacted the seller and he said motor just stopped in middle of vacuuming. I asked him if there were any burnt smells, and asked him if there was a audible click when you jumpered the 2 low volt wires together, and he said yes there was a click, so I know control circuit relay is working, he said no burnt smells from motor. I think it might need new carbon brushes, or could have bad spot in motor communitator, or armiture is what it's called. I'll perform a bar to bar test on motor armiture when I receive the unti. I am super excited to receive the Dust Care unit, and I think Beam made this unit for Dust Care. Beam is a great company, and made vacuums for lots of companies. Anyone ever heard of Xenex Central Vacuums?? There slogan is Kant Clog referring to the filter in the unit. That unit is made by Beam as well, and is my next unit to find and add to my collection. I'll include a photo of my Dust care as well, as the beam 254. How bout your GE here, ever care to sell someday? I know the answer you'll give LOL. I am same way, won't let go of my stuff. LOL. I am glad you found this unit though. Are you a collector as well??
