My first LG

This one came with another cast-off vac today. The models that I work on regularly, I rarely plug in to see if they run before I buy simply because they can be used for parts even if not running. The LG, as a one-off, I plugged in and it had power to the motor but rpm quickly dropped to nothing and the cord heated up so I turned it right off. It was fairly complete but no small attachments. I took a chance on it for $4 as a model that I don't usually do.

When I got this one home, being my first LG project, I wanted to get started taking it down for cleaning. The rpm loss was due to a brush roll wound with lovely reddish-tinted dark brown hair. Including wrapped around the bearings. Once I took the brush roll out, the motor ran fine but it would choke up with the dirt bin installed. The bin was empty, but when I took the filters out, you couldn't see daylight through the micro filter it was so clogged with fine stuff.

Wow, speaking of the dirt bin on this LG, which is a Model LuV200R, made in '05. What a complicated set-up that is. It cleaned out nicely in the yard with a high pressure water nozzle on the hose.

The brush rolls aren't made to take apart, but I often take things apart and repair them that aren't made for that. I think this will be a pretty good machine for resale once I get it cleaned and back together again. This one appears to be better made than the more recent models of LG that I've looked at at Sears.

It is a shame that people who owned such expensive vacuums as this one do not keep up on cleaning out the brush roll or even the filters,etc.Then again if we did not have people like this we would not get such sweet finds as this Hopefully you will be able to get the rest of the attachments needed for her? How is it for handling the machine looks so big? Otherwise very stylish and practical with the quick draw telescopic wand

That hair brings back memories. My Aunt's vacuum was so built up with hair, the bristles couldn't contact the carpet, lol.

It looks bulky but isn't all that heavy. I haven't used it yet, but when it's done I'll test drive it.

"Gee, mom, I never thought I'd get me one of those Mar-cedes Benzes with the supercharger." The ones that say "Kompressor" with a K on the back. Well, maybe not a Mercedes but at least an LG that says the same thing on the front.

Oy vez ist mir, do I see some nasty vacuum cleaners when they come to me. Just today, as I was peeling the blonde hair encrusted with soft drink residue off of the brushroll of a Hoover Multi-Chamber Cyclonic (Chinee), I thought, "How disgusting is this?" Hmmm. If it was too disgusting, I wouldn't do it. Dog turds, animal and (no doubt) human vomitus, dead mice, filth of all sorts; maybe toxic chemicals for all I know. All in a day's work, when I feel like working, that is. I'm too old for worrying about toxic chemicals now. Something else will kill me, but it won't be from vacuum cleaners.
