For awhile, I've been wanting to add an Electrolux to the collection. Alas, it's kind of hard as around here, thrift stores carry only the cruddiest latest plasticville stuff made in the People's Great Leap Cheapward Revolutionary Slave Labor Plant #1824934, China.

But I digreess...

Anyway, I picked one up off of eBay. Could not believe I was the only bidder, I fully expected a blast of snipe bids. Usually, people are all over these things like maggots on road kill.

Now...I've no clue as to what model it is :)

Any ideas, good people?

Silverado Deluxe

John,

That would be a Silverado deluxe sold from 1982-1984. Very nice machine! They are a work horse and will last forever if you use geniune bags. If you need a power nozzle let me know I have about a billion of the PN5's that they came with towards the end of production. The PN5 is better then the PN4 that the first group of Silverado's came with. I might also have a manual floating around here somewhere if you need one.

Silverado Deluxe

John,

That would be a Silverado deluxe sold from.....oh.

Nice Unit there, John! Interestingly, as a bonus you have a white-bristled wall brush pictured. While not super, super rare, they can be hard to come by. Congratulations! Good job on the humor too. I have included a picture of my dusting tools. Great job on the Lux!

You made my day!

You mean I actually got a cool one? You folks have made my day! Dave, thanks for the info about the manual and power nozzle -- I'll let you know when this little gem arrives. :-) And Rick, thanks for the info about the brushes...

Oh man, I am soooo happy...but dang, now I'm going to be pacing the floor like an expectant father, or a bratty kid on Christmas Eve. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!

(I've wanted an Electrolux cannister for sooooo long!)

Woohoo!

John

One thing nice about the Silverado version, if it has the SJ style motor, armatures and brushes are readily available for rebuild. You can even find the sleeve bearing if you're lucky. The fan bearing is the standard 608. I always use the 608ZZ versions. (I find they have much less drag on the motor, which gives better suction and airflow) Keep the sleeve bearing lubed and it should last a long time. The later models came equipped with the LF motor, not as good or as powerful as the SJ. But having said that, the LF motor is the standard 5.7 inches wide and can be easily replaced.

oh wow

This is the last electrolux on my list of ones I want. My grandmother still has hers and everyone pretty much knows its mine. So I am waiting for that one it will be the treasure of my collection.

Silverado

John, the Silverado is a high-water mark in vacuum cleaner history. It's the Legend II of Electrolux. I'll help you detail that Electrolux when we get together for the first time. I agree with Dave. You can buy supplies from him. As far I as know, he is the most reliable source of Electrolux machines and supplies for us, since our own Electrolux branch closed. The Guardian I bought from him is perfect, and I'm really particular about my stuff. Your Silverado has a non-electric hose, which was cheaper but now is rare and a great piece for your collection. You can buy a genuine Electrolux electric hose from Dave, or you can buy a grey aftermarket hose that will look perfect with a Silverado. The PN Dave is offering you is the same one that came with the Diamond Jubilee. It's dark blue and will take the new brush roll that Electrolux puts on its current machines. Congratulations!

Awesome!

Now, if the darn thing will just get here! Grrrr....this waiting is killing me!

Patrick, I would appreciate your help on the detailing and would enjoy getting together! And Dave...do you have a website? Shoot me a price on the PN and hose, would you? (And genuine bags!)

I am really pumped up about this one!

John

And about the manual....

...that would be very helpful, if you have an extra one or a scan, or what have you.

Why is it taking so looooooooooooooong?

*drumming fingers impatiently*

John

WILL YOU PLEASE CALM DOWN??????

That finger tapping is driving me nuts. I wish it would get there too!

Rick

Ooooh!

Thanks for the reminder Pete!

My new/old percolator arrived yesterday! It's awesome and just right. 'Bout 6 cup capacity, with a cloth cord in perfect condition, down to the UL ring on it!

Ahhhh....percolated coffee...the best! How I long for the days of truly "HOT" coffee, before people spilled it in their laps for 1.5 million....

Rick, sorry about the finger drumming, didn't mean to annoy you.

*tapping foot impatiently in anticipation of the 'Lux*

John

Awright!

Just finished up with Dave on getting the PN and hose for my incoming 'Lux! Woohoo! Dave, you're awesome! I hope to deal with you more in the future.

And Patrick, thanks for the endorsement of Dave. It's always good to know who the best suppliers are by word of mouth.

Have 2 of them Silverado's
Still trying to figure out which ones had the "better motor"

also have an Olympia, 2 g's blue n bronze, 2100 & a XXX

The silverado, XXX, O, 2100 I will probably sell.

It's getting crowded around here

I like the quietness of the G
Still I need a good hose for it & its been hard to figure out which ones will fit as the silverado hose does not fit the G.

No such thing as "crowded"

...when it comes to good vacs!

As far as a hose goes, talk to Dave/dirtfinder1 -- he's helping me out on my Silverado and has been great! No doubt he can get you squared away on a hose for your G.

Interestingly you mention the quietness of the G -- that's what got me about this Silverado, how quiet it is. If you're telling me the G is quieter than the Silverado, I'd either have to say "Wow, I'm impressed!" or ask "Is it plugged in?"
