My Eureka's new dress

Very much thanking Marty who sent me an original Eureka bag to fit on this machine. Here she is looking much much nicer, still in need of a wipe and rub here and there but I think she even sounds better now

Sylvia? At first I thought why Sylvia, she's not silvery she's golden coloured but then it dawned on me that Sylvia is derived from the latin for woods. Nothing to do with silver at all. So Sylvia she will be. Sylvia Goldstaubsauger (look that one up Charles lol)

"Sylvia, oh Sylvia..."

Sylvia leapt to my mind because I used to have a neighbor named Sylvia whose entire house looked like that vacuum cleaner!!

Much better!

How bojack bags make me cringe...

I once had some very similar curtains to the correct bag, actually...

SYLVIA! I wondered what had become of you -- you moved all the way to the UK??! hahaha

hey Pete!

Nice eureka! I have the same one only with the cord-reel and you have to touch the handle to start it! It was a whole $2.00 at a church rummage sale and it is good condition

hey Pete yeah i will once i get it cleaned up. There is a sensor in the handle to make it start so you have to hold the handle to make it start! I think Jeff Parker can give more info then i can.....Jeff take the floor!

Touch power handle grip

What Kyle is referring to is a feature exclusive to Eureka's TOL uprights from 1972-1976 or so.
Basically it was a little squeeze bar/momentary contact switch that turned the cleaner on when you squeezed the handle grip. On paper it would look like a cool feature, but in use it was really a pain in the A**.
It was first available in 1972 on the Golden Vanguard uprights, models 2082 and 2092, the ultra deluxe version of Pete's model, which also featured cord reel, and on the 2092 a chrome hood.
I have a beautiful 2092 that won 2 ribbons at the 2004 Chicago convention. One of my favorite Eureka machines!
