My Electrolux 1205 Rebuilt 💕💕💕

I love this machine! Can someone share the history of the Electrolux rebuilt vacuum program and how long it lasted? Thanks

I too am curious about this program. I had a rebuilt 1401 Electrolux but I ended up giving it away after I found the Epic 6500. The 1401 had the same hammer tone gray paint. Did they all have this same color scheme and tag?

They painted machines the hammertone so that rebuilt machines couldn't be sold as new.

I am guessing that after Electrolux rebuilt the machines they probably operated just like new!

Nice machine. I like the color scheme although it would have looked better had they left the top panel in its original polished aluminum instead of painting it. Just at a glance, it looks like they were trying to somewhat emulate the Silverado scheme. Another advantage of the hammer tone paint on a rebuilt machine is it can hide a world of sins, which would make for faster and easier surface prep. I certainly found this to be true when I repainted my PN4A power nozzle last fall.

The rebuilds would be same color as currant new models putting this one at about 1982 to match Silverado.Vac would be rebuilt with many new parts as seen here and would come with NEW hose,wands,attachments,Power Nozzle and instructions showing rebuilt G,L & 1205.They were packed with standard hose and atts.If Power Nozzle was purchased it would come from branch stock and hose changed to electric.One of the last rebuilts of about 1985 was the HPR(High Performance Rebuilt)Super J/Olympia in Diamond Jubilee colors.

Very nice! I've also wondered about Electrolux rebuilds. Was the program similar to Kirby's? Or did Electrolux simply rebuild their own machines (maybe trade ins?) and then resell them? I have a rebuilt early Model L in hammertone brown (coppertone). It looks nice. I just wish they would have riveted the rebuild tag to the bottom of the machine!

So....if the OE 1205 motor was worn, would they have put in the current motor at the time (same as the Silverado in this case)?

That would arguably make the rebuilt machine a little better than it was when new. Another possibility is they would rebuild the motors. It would actually make sense to have a ready stock of motors pulled from previous rebuilds and refurbished separately to drop into machines as they come in for rebuilding.

"similar to Kirbys"?--No.As Electrolux had company owned branches in general the off brand trades were disposed of locally to vac stores with the Elux trades (machine only) going back to factory to sort and rebuild.Early rebuilt XXXs would be done at branches with a tag in front of handle.
"hammertone brown"?--About 1980 along with Olympias.
"motor"?--Would be same as original.

Have you contacted an Aerus dealer to see if the new serial number is in its database? That would tell you either when it was rebuilt or when it was first sold after it was rebuilt (original serial #s are recorded according to their first sales).

Owner's Manual for Silverado Era Rebuilds

My parents purchased a remanufactured model 1205 in 1983. Here's a copy of the Owner's Manual. Apologies for the scan quality--we don't have a great scanner. It was a great vacuum, but I couldn't talk them into getting the power nozzle--our Dial-A-Matic was still going strong at the time

I have a model L, from Toby Glenn, which is a Factory Rebuild machine. Hammertone blue. Nice machine...Its light, so i use it when I want to vacuum out my Truckling.
