My Electrolux 1205 Golden Jubilee

I've had this for quite a while, sitting in a box in garage. I don't even remember where I got it! But I had some spare time this weekend and decided to give it a spa treatment. Like quebecois' Super J, it had that funky vacuum smell. So I disassembled the motor and gave it thorough cleaning too!

Original Attachments?

The hose is obviously a replacement, but I wonder if the attachments are original. They are the same teal green as the earlier 1205. Also, the release tab on the wand is teal green. The other thing about the wand is that there is not release for the lower wand to come off.

When I dug into it, I was surprised to see a circuit board! I did not know that Electrolux ever used a circuit board in its metal tank models. Someone has modified it for some reason.

I always like to have anniversary models because they mark a milestone in a company's history!

Nice crests ! I can't see any difference between yours and my SuperJ except for these crests. Are there any ?

I didn'T notice any circuit board in mine...

The Super J has a larger, more powerful motor than the Golden J. To accommodate the longer motor, the body of the Super J is about 3/4" longer. I've taken several metal tanks apart, but this is the first 1205 and I've never seen a circuit board until now. So I guess the circuit board is unique to that model.

It's not really a circuit board

That really isn't a circuit board, all the 1205s had a connector block. Those were notorious for causing connection problems so Electrolux eliminated that problem with the production of the Super J and newer machines. Instead of the connector box they replaced it with a wiring harness that plugs the wires into the tabs on the cordwinder.

Those 'blocks' can have a total meltdown....I had one that looked like it had caught fire. I just figured out the wiring and joined wires.

When I first got my Super J, the bag ejector switch, which had three or four wires connecting to it, had considerable signs of overheating--melted plastic and blackened wires. Definitely something to keep an eye on.

I had one of these with completely non-faded trim. I sold it though, along with most of my collection.

What was I thinking???
