My Dyson DC07 All floors

Hi

This is a vacuum that I picked up from a car boot sale a little while back, it worked but kept cutting out. Thanks to a member on here I found out what to do, cleaned the inside of the cyclone with a jet. Unfortunately, the rod came out of the cyclone so it now will not empty, despite working fine. So, please can anyone give any suggestions as to how to fix (apart from buy a new cyclone unit!)

Condition wise its not bad - considering I paid £2 for it from a refurbisher! He ahd put new filters in, so I had no problem with that, they turned out to be genuine Dyson ones!!!

It came with two tools as well, which isn't bad because most of the Dysons I have come across at car boot sales havent got any!

The clutch movement seemed pretty smooth, good on delicate rugs & hard floors!

It is dated from 2001, and was made in Malmesbury, so it must have been one of the first DC07's, as in a Argos catalouge dated 2002 I own that is when they make their first appearence with Argos, so this model will have been one of the first

My first Root 8 Cyclone machine, and to be honest, it doesnt feel much different, but it does compared to a newer one, such as my great - grans DC24 All Floors, which isnt the best sucker.

Compared to the DC04 that power button isn't located in the most convenient place.

It did take a bit of getting used to, as I had been using several DC04's and a DC01 prior to this, but the DC03 I have has its button in around the same place as the DC07, so it didn't take too long to get used to, as I had to use the DC03 most days before.

Shame it wasnt as good as a bargain as your DC04

I'm actually trying to sell my DC04 on Gumtree as it happens, though no takers yet for £50.

The rod is not supposed to come out of the cyclone, if it has then it has probably snapped off at the top. Using a T15 torx driver or bit, remove the 3 screws from the cyclone top and then pull it off. Inspect the area under the pull trigger where the rod attaches, if its a clean break you may be able to superglue it back together, but a better solution would be to obtain another cyclone from Ebay, you can get them for about £15 inc postage if you shop around. The bin flap will not open without the rod in place, and if you force it you will probably break it. You can push the old rod down to the bottom to engage the little hole in the latch mechanism with the cyclone top removed.
2001 was the earliest DC07, and it was made in the UK till 2002 when it was transferred to Malaysia. The problem with the earliest models is they are prone even more than usual to brittle plastics that snap very easily, and also the cyclones clog easier than later models. Look on the cyclone housing where the air exits it to go down the suction tube to the motor. Near to that port, does it have a number 1 or 2 stamped in the plastic?

Well I'm thinking of dropping the price to £40 if it doesn't sell by tomorrow. I need the money to bid on a Junior from eBay.

£50 for a DC04? thats a bit high even for the English! Dont forget how tight the Scots are lolol
Maybe for the Ranger, but not for the DC04, sorry - I'd value it at about £20-£25, but then - you may be lucky?

See my picture of my Dysons - I paid £5 for the DC04, £20 for the 07, and £35 for the 14.
Money is very scarce in the economy nowadays, and for £50 people would expect a fully refurbished Dc07 with total stripdown cleanup.

I got £67 for my seller refurbished DC04 Absolute, but that had been totally overhauled

Well I've lowered it to £45 with an ONO, so I'll go down to £40, no lower.

I know money is tight but £45 for a Dyson isn't half bad compared to what you'd get brand new for that price from Argos.

Are you bidding for the Junior in Sheffield, the pinky brown one by any chance? from the same seller that you got another of your juniors from, he's got a nice commercial going that I might be interested in too - its a great looking dirty fan cleaner too lol

Jamie - just looked at your ad on Gumtree, it would look better to prospectiuve buyers if you picured the DC04 with an empty bin, and the green inserts all shined up with silicone spray (Car dash polish) It would then look like it had been restored. Give it some "kerb appeal".
