Same here,
Finish tablets with bleach and the red dot. I also use a rinse aid. For large or heavy soil loads, I add liquid cascade to the small pre wash cup.

formerly Jet Dry. I'm so glad it's all OK and that it wasn't broken, after such a short time.
Now, the dryer part is on order.

I have both "Apple" and "desert Rose", service for 8 for each. I got them for a song (new). My late aunt had "desert Rose" in Ireland. When she moved back here, I got them so she wouldn't feel lonely when she came for dinner. She enjoyed them very much. I use Fiesta daily. They all go in the dishwasher. I never put the Lenox (3 patterns) in there, although there IS a china cycle.
I just picked up some "Finish" last night. So far, there are 3 spoons, 2 glasses and a bowl in there, waiting to be washed with others. Needless to say, I don't eat a lot at my house.

I know,
when I'm home alone, I always cook too much. I made osso bucco yesterday, so when my bud called and asked what I was doing for supper he stopped by. I was surprised he liked it. He cooks bland. Not that he cooks often. It's just himself also, so it's usually a chicken breast, veggies and rice or a baked potato.
I like more variety. I remember he used to open a jar of Ragu and call it spaghetti. Yuck! Then he had my chicken caccatore' and Lasagne.
When he had more money, I gave him a few lessons and he actually used to make tasty dishes. Once or twice, burgundy beef stew, a delicious pecan and honey beef brisket, and a nice smoked mozzarella pasta with peppers, shitake, and Portobello mushrooms.
He brought over two small cherry pies for desert. Just enough not to feel guilty.
Then we walked on a garden tour around the area. He's really big on gardening. He took photos even. He even thought my garden looked good. Not like his though.
He recently re connected with an old friend after 20 years who was shocked he has never been in a relationship. He's had some self esteem issues all the way back from childhood. I think I'd have ran away if my family treated me like that.

I've also
been guilty of waxing my washer and dryer.
Then I got step children, who used the tops to apply stain pre treat to their garments, be careless with detergent, bleach, etc. Even as I placed worn towels on top of them.
One tires of preaching, and cleaning up after them. The more you do, the less they care. You can't watch them 24/7 unless you can stay home.
They had more pressing responsibilities like studying, playing video games, etc.
Heck, I was glad they at least washed their own clothes.

I usually wash them with Windex.
My mom would use Ivory soap. I understand that they made a polish for them, which I never bought.

Hey Guys
You are not the only one who waxes their appliances. When I was a kid my mom had the old Maytags that had all the chrome around the console and the wht glass with gray stripes in them. I was always cleaning them up and making then shine like new even though they were far from it. I use to use Jubilee Creme on them and it always smelled so nice. She would always find me and say "you were cleaning the washer & dryer again weren't you, I can always tell" Thank You!
I have always been one to take really good care of all my things I have owned and it pays off in the long run because it seems to last that much longer. Hell even with all the vintage kitchen appliances I by on ebay the first thing I do is give it a good bath and then clean all the plastic handles and know and such with... get this Silver Polish or I will use plastic polish for cars. It is just a mild enuf abrasive that it cleans and does not scratch the finish. It works GREAT on stainless steel too.
John if I had the room for Maytags like yours I would but I have to have stacked units. I have a Maytag RR dishwasher that I bought used. I hunted Craigslist for yrs till I found the one I wanted. Its the TOL belt drive with push buttons. I had been trying to but another one on Craigslist and the woman would never call me back so I bought this one. Long story short she couldn't sell hers and she finally dropped the price to free so I have a spare for parts now. YESSSS! LOL I love the dam thing, it washes mad crazy clean.... loud but I don't care.
