Brad
I have had 2 Kirbys rebuilt at the factory in the past 5 years. A dual 80 and
a Classic 1CR. The Dual 80, I wanted to be exactly as orginal. It had an almost new org. green shake out bag on it. So when I got the acknowledgement letter
before they worked on it. I asked about 50 questions by phone They were very good about all of it. They did put a new Black bag on it. while everything else was org. Green. Then the best part, they nicely folded the Green cloth bag that was on the emptor. Than placed it in the box too. I was thrilled.
As I wanted the org. Green cloth bag but I wanted a new cloth one. As I already
had the Emptor from a Heritage that I had used for parts. Than I also had in
my personal inventory a brand new org. Green replacement bag. Which I took to the dry cleaners and had a long heavy duty coat zipper placed in it. So I could use
it with the Hepa throw a way bags !
The Classic came back just as if were 1970 and it were new out of the Kirby box.
Looking forward to seeing your project complete.
Just a side note. I grew up with and Loved my grandmothers Kirby 512, when she passed in 1964 It was 14 years old. Never been back to the factory. It was serviced reg. used about once every 2 weeks by the cleaning women. Had a new bag, and of course a new Red plastic handle grip. Grandma's will was for everything to be auctioned. I begged my dad to bid on the Kirby, He did, got it to 69.00, he stopped and would not go any farther. Someone got it for $75.00. It was purchased new for $78.00 in 1952.
Would give a lot yet to day to know where that Kirby 512 went or to have it !
