The VibraBeat is one of those floor nozzle things with the rubber bands that flap about beating the carpet while sounding like the vac has been eating cheesy beans, isn't it?

Strange concept, that's for sure...

They are noisy, hard to push on some carpets, don't pick up large debris, but they beat the hell out of the carpet! You can watch the dirt actually bounce on the carpet when it gets near it!

I have the first model with the power head in my collection. Not really one of my favorites, I tend to like Electrolux, Hoover and some Kenmore's for canisters.

Love the colour of this Eureka-made vac. Sometimes Montgomery Ward and JCPenney requested really great colours and elegantly simple graphics and labelling on their Eureka-made vacs. Just beautiful.

Thank you so much for scanning the instruction manual. It is definitely a booklet designed and produced by Eureka for MW, because the fonts, layout and styling are identical to those found in the manuals that came with Eureka Williams vacs in the late 1960's and early 1970's.

I would love to be able to get another Montgomery Ward or Penney "Canned Ham" Vacuum, one with a powerhead. No one wants to sell any and I have never found any in an estate sale. Well I waited this long to get this one I can wait alittle longer to find another!!! And your welcome! I love looking at the old manuels, one for the graphics, second is for the cleaning methods!!!!

Eureka's Vibra-Beat Carpet Nozzle

I will never forget the comment made by Consumer Reports when they once tested a Eureka canister with the Vibra-Beat nozzle. Their writing used to be very poetic (sometimes it still is), and they used a line penned by Shakespeare to describe this unique, but noisy, attachment: "Much ado about nothing"!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, the Vibra-Beater was noisy, but for those who could not afford a canister with a powerhead, it did the job removing dust. And it also made the vacuum more special, gave it more power than just straight suction. The Vibra-Beater made me view what vacuums we had as more powerful.

Both my rotomatic and my empress II have the vibrabeat nozzle.  Unless you are just vacuuming dust, it pretty much is useless.  Anything larger than a granule of sand can't get sucked between the vibrating bars.  I've tried using it to vacuum cat litter  - my Lux '89 with just the regular rug nozzle does a better job.

We had always vacuumed regularly first then went over the floor again with the Vibra-Beater. Back when there were shag rugs and the carpet pile was deep the beater did do a good job getting rid of deep dust. My sister went and bought a Wards Vibra-beater just for that purpose.

Vacuuming first and then again with the vibra beat kind of defeats the purpose of having a vacuum LOL  Unless you are a vac collector, I don't think most people would want to vacuum twice

Montgomery Ward Signature Vibra-Beat Canister Vacuum

Great working order. All attachments present. Bag o'bags - some unopened. I haven't even cleaned this up yet! What would YOU pay?

Vibra-beat,

When I was very small, and my mom asked me to vacuum, she had me use the vibra-beat first, then re vacuum with the straight suction nozzle.
I asked why twice, and mom said the vibra-beat was designed to shake the deep down dirt to the top, not suck it up.
