I was wondering, does the current Miele active airclean (charcoal pet filter) contain hepa media. I want to get this for my Miele but I want it to draw a zero on the particle counter test. I can’t seem to find anything on it except how to change it and it’s a odor reducing filter. Does anyone know if it filters as good as the hepa airclean?

Probably not

the Filter around the granulated charcoal seems similar in construction to the Air Clean filters that come in the box of bags (electrostatic-like material) I'd say it's more than adequate though Miele's bags do the majority of the work anyhow.

Why the charcoal filter does a great job filtering. It's not a HEPA filter it's designed strictly for gases and odors. It does have a micro filter in it as well.

I have the Miele HEPA filter and bought a big jar of active charcoal for about $12. If I start to smell anything I pour some charcoal on the ground and vacuum it up. The jar likely will last me years. It seems to do the trick.

I just

Bought the same thing I've been using, the hepa airclean. I got some scent tabs too so hopefully that'll help. It hasn't been too bad lately. I really miss the blue hepa aircleans. The old ones, though not practical to Miele, were hepa with a charcoal activated layer. Those were awesome! I still have my original one that came with my machine. I popped it in for a while and noticed cooler temperatures from the motor and no odors.
