Mid 1990s SEBO Automatic X1

Purchased this on eBay for an absolutely unbeatable price. Can't wait for it to arrive later this week. In the meantime, I'll share the photos from the listing.

I'm really excited for this machine. I've been searching for a good deal on another SEBO/Windsor ever since I sold both of my Windsors a couple years back.

I think it's in fantastic condition and as said above, the price was absolutely unbeatable.

Sebo_Fan, thanks! I was hoping one of our resident SEBO experts would chime in here! Any idea what years mine would have been produced? I'd never seen an X1 in that color before.

Check in the inner bag door/door that comes off- there are two circles that indicate the year in which the SEBO was made, shown by arrows. They are located near the top beside the bag slider mechanism.

It's a kenmore, it's called the kenmore professional. I used to have that exact machine, don't worry the only thing kenmore about it is the name

It is not a Kenmore Professional. I've seen those before. It says very clearly on the base SEBO Automatic X1, Made in Germany.

Now after zooming in I can see that. Weird I have not seen that color Sebo either, funny I didn't notice it when I saw it on eBay.

Yeah, I'll curious to see when it was made. I've only ever seen the X1 in grey.

ive yet to try them but I'm going to get the hepa bags for my x4 transparent. I find the paper bags performance diminishes really quick in these machine. hopefully the HEPA bags do the trick, they usually do.

I'm wondering if this color wasn't exclusive to a magazine or a certain store or something along that line.

Last week, I found a Windsor Sensor at a flea market, and it needed some TLC. In my hunt to get my vacuum tuned-up, I noticed your machine on ebay. I have the same model, but with a 15-inch nozzle, and it was always a pleasure to use. My family uses it in their office now. Quiet and very light, but still rugged. Fool-proof.

I finally got bags for my Windsor Sensor S12 tonight (along with the extension hose in the background). This is the same model as the Sebo Essential/Professional G1, and it's awesome! It cleans VERY well! The floors look amazing! I also like how the machine lays flat to the floor, so I dont have to move much furniture while I vacuum. Great machines!

Had to include a picture of the beautiful carpet lines it leaves.

Synthetic Bags

I haven't tried out the HEPA Ultra Bags, but I recommend giving the European Ultra Bag is worth a shot, there's someone selling them on Amazon but it takes them 2+ weeks to ship via snail mail all the way from the UK. Using the synthetic Ultra Bags really increases the airflow.

If not, there's also a generic synthetic bag that seems to work pretty well, but I think I have to give it to the genuine ones for flow. Either way they're better performing than the multi-layer paper bags.

I ended up with generic Envirocare bags. Because of the clever filtration setup (the tall pre-motor filter), I never noticed issues with suction loss or anything, but I like how good HEPA bags keep the bag compartment spotless.

I couldn't wait to try mine, so I blasphemously dumped the filthy bag it came with, taped it back up, and used it anyway. Did a great job!

Also included is the beautiful brushroll that makes the magic happen. Still waiting on one broken part (rear bottom plate). I saw user oliveoiltinfoil pulled the brushroll guards out of his Felix, and I tried the same thing here. No regrets!

Synthetic bags

I think you'll really have to give any of the synthetic bags a try, even the generics. From my experience they increase the flow significantly that it feels like you've upgraded the motor outright.

The only problem I found with removing grids on uprights is that rugs on floors, especially the corners get driven up into the brush roll. I am having that problem all of the time with the Vax Cordless Air upright because NO grids have been added. Whilst Oli may not have a problem on his Felix, I wouldn't bother removing any of the grids - they are there to flatten out carpets as well as preventing edges of rugs from being driven up into the dust channel.

The Ultra bags are quite good. I have fitted a new one to my SM2 commercial upright and Im impressed with the suction. I also started fitting the ultra bags as soon as they arrived in the UK a few years ago; they tend to last an extra month, so they are worth it.

I also have a few brown paper bags left over. Pocono if you want me to send you a few, let me know. Might be quicker than 2 week delivery.

This is true what Nar says, the corner of rugs do get driven up into the brushroll. This has happened on my Dyson which doesn't have any bars.

So remove the bars if you want but be careful on edges of rugs.

If I had small throw rugs, or area rugs with fringe I would have kept the brushroll guards, but in my current living situation I don't. Actually my home has been robo-proofed for my Neato Botvac 80, which is scheduled to clean twice a week while I'm at work. The few mats and loose flooring items I have are ones that won't snag cleaners.

The Sensor has a responsive brushroll sensor, so if it gobbles up a shoelace or cord it just shuts down. Adds to that reliable design I continue to admire!
