VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

When I was a little kid in the late '60s, early '70s, we had a Bissell Sweep Master stick vacuum It was light blue with a plastic lower body but the motor housing and handle were metal. Its overall form factor is very similar to my Hoover QuikBrooms but much more sturdy and well built. It was light weight, well-balanced and easy to use, even for a six-year-old.

It made the rounds in the family over the years but never came into my hands. My grandmother had it at her apartment until she went into assisted living, then my sister had it, which was the last time I saw it, maybe 10 years ago. It may still be up at her mountain house, for all I know.

The link below will take you to an eBay listing for the owner's manual but I believe it's for a more deluxe model than ours because I don't recall that we had the "Scrub Master" portion.

Regina Electrikbroom

When I was little my Mom had a Regina Electrikbroom that was dark green with little tiny Electrikbroom squares on it and it was metallic green and white. I liked how the bag would inflate when on, later models were lighter weight plastic and the bags didn’t inflate out as much but instead just become taught. It would be fun to have one like the one my Mom had again, My Dad had quite of few of them saved in the basement he collected from people’s trash but Mom’s was a new purchase but then it was retired to the basement when she decided to buy an Orange Hoover quick broom that took a regular bag in the late 70s. She saw it in the sale ad and she decided to go to Bamberger’s department store to look at it and of course she asked me if I wanted to go along because she knew I liked the vacuums and vacuuming.

Eventually the Regina Electrikbroom collection was downsized to the trash as Dad had collected too many and there just was no need to have them all cluttering up a corner of the basement. He also picked up 3 Hoover quick broom II’s that needed new fan blades, we bought them and installed and they eventually got moved on to my siblings or their other house and now they are all gone.
