As a long time vac shop owner let me clarify a couple of things here. Electrolux (now Aerus) even when they were a healthy operation (as opposed to their present teetering on the edge of extinction) were for many years the last holdout among major manufacturers, who refused to sell their parts to vac shops or the wholesalers serving our industry. The good thing about this is that many good aftermarket suppliers make acceptable replacement parts for Electrolux, and this hasn't changed. However they are primarily limited to items such as bags, hoses, brush rolls, motor assemblies, and the like. Housing parts and the like have always been difficult to get, and this has gotten worse. Aerus/Electrolux closed their factory at Bristol, VA, although it continues as a warehousing facility. Their manufacturing is done for them by Eureka (a subsidiary of the European AB Electrolux, which bought back the rights to use their own name in the US and Canada from the buyers of Electrolux from Sara Lee, hence their need to pick a new name, specifically Aerus). My Eureka rep's business card reads "Electrolux Home Care Products," and when I buy Eureka/Sanitaire products, I make out the check to "Electrolux Home Care Products." This rep has informed me that if Aerus goes under, which everyone in the industry feels is inevitable, it will revert over to AB Electrolux, and that they have no intention of continuing the Aerus (formerly Electrolux) product line, or parts for them.
